March 14, 2022 at 8:15 am #1204849470Oh my god darling! I’m really hoping Drive My Car upsets in both categories (very long shots, I know). It’s the only movie from the lineup that deserving to be called the best of the year, and will be studied from years to come.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Tang Wei, Decision To Leave
Rebecca Hall, ResurrectionJames Hong & Jamie Lee Curtis, Everything Everywhere All At Once

The Cinematography and Ensemble in the film are so underrated.

They could have thought that way about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood too yet Parasite won.

CODA has won a grand total of *one* Best Picture award, at the Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards. It’s not just a matter of having Editing or not – the precursors for it simply aren’t there, and they ARE for Power of the Dog.

I mean Roma won a shit ton of BP prizes and had a more compelling narrative than TPOTD and still lost. I am just not sold on TPOTD winning BP when it’s probably going 0/4 in Acting and losing Adapted Screenplay.

Roma had a serious alternative in Green Book, which had the Golden Globes and PGA – and that win was still surprising. What film has a similar narrative going in? It’s certainly not CODA.

It won 2/3 at BAFTA and 2/2 at SAG. It having only 3 nominations is not the ding you guys think it is.
