I agree that the Best Picture should at least be a movie that most people in the US watched. What’s the point if only a small fraction saw it? I also think there are blockbuster films that deserve more Oscar recognition than they got but I’ve come to accept that this is what the Oscars is now. And… Jared Leto for House of Gucci is my favorite supporting performance from that film. It’ll be a deserved nom imo.

If Jared Leto’s performance is deserving of a nom, something like Barb and Star should be getting like three acting noms. It was a comedic performance in a dramatic movie so it stands out, but even for a comedic performance it was average.

This and supporting actress are 2 categories most vulnerable to late breakers because there’s no frontrunner. Actors who are in it to win it don’t get kicked aside by late comers unlike also-runs. So in Actor, for example, Smith (frontrunner) and Cumby (challenger) should be safe. But here, who are equivalents to Smith and Cumby? There’s no such thing. Same goes for Supporting Actress. There’s no KStew equivalent.

He’s really gonna get in a for a supporting performance (with a musical number) but for the wrong role. Sigh.

It deserves a nomination about as much as Al Pacino in Dick Tracy.

Bradley Cooper is barely in Licorice Pizza. Not sure if he’s in the Top 5. But his performance is still electric despite its limited screen time. Benny Safdie is also impressive, but again, a really small role.

Watched Little Lord Fauntleroy again. Go get that nomination win, Kodi!

I know it is looking unlikely, but one can hope!

    Reminder:

Why is Mike Faist still not listed in the prediction center? People need to be able to vote for my boyfriend, please get on that. You can remove Corey Stoll for West Side Story, LOL

Also, Willem Dafoe isn’t happening. He had enough screentime but no juicy scenes. Oh well.

After discovering the secret, the calm, coolness and acumen he played from the middle to the end of the film was impressive. I expect many nominations for him at the awards.

The best thing about Jared Leto’s performance is how literally EVERYTHING about it belongs in a different movie. Like, even the writing specifically for his character doesn’t fit the rest of the film at all. Either he improvised a whole lot or the writer was making fun of him while adjusting the screenplay. This performance is laughably awful, but to be fair, it’s the main reason why this film is thoroughly entertaining.

The most astute explanation I’ve seen for the “raves” and “buzz” for Leto’s performance, which .. I can’t even.
