If Troy’s BAFTA win cemented his frontrunner status, ’cause it’s clear that the SAG, Critics and BAFTA winner is the undeniable frontrunner, why Luca or any of us that were rooting for Kodi would go on disputing that?
Kodi started the industry award season as the critics favorite and he got a Globe win. He had many things going on for him, while Kotsur and CODA were far behind, but their latest surge has changed the picture and we’re not delusional about it, why should we?
If you take pleasure in gloating because our favorite supporting actor is not the projected winner anymore, well, that’s self-explanatory. But Luca, as many of us Kodi supporters, has never disrespected anothers who were rooting for a different contender (a behaviour often displayed by pundits like Zoe Bryant on Twitter). So enough with the spite.
My favorites are trashed continuously here. It’s hard to get used to.

Facts , I really think if Kodi was a veteran he would have taken BAFTA and Oscar

I prefer my roses whiteMarch 21, 2022 at 3:39 pm #1204865298Can I say something unpopular? Troy Kotsur is a very charismatic and humorous guy and his win would be great for representation, but after watching a couple of his speeches I got the impression that he’s playing himself in the movie… 🙈

Lol darling… it’s that bad, isn’t it? They can choose between Jason Isaacs, Masaki Okada, etc, and your personal top five and they go with pure fillers instead…
ReplyCopy URLMarch 22, 2022 at 11:25 pm #1204870397Yeah it seems since the Bafta defeat of KSM, @Luca_Giliberti has gone rather quiet around these parts. I miss all his “we like to see it” comments, even if it appears that The Power of the Dog is going to join Johnny Belinda and Becket as a one-win-out-of-12-noms contender (and as with Giant and The Graduate, the solo win will be BD), while CODA and others snap up the rest of the categories. As a side note, unlike some, I’m not forecasting a record-breaking 0/12 shutout for TPOTD (which would top by one the blankings that greeted The Turning Point and The Color Purple). It’s gonna get BD, and I’ve never thought otherwise.
Yes, Kotsur will win, on what may well be his sole career nomination (we’d like to see it not be!), beating Smit-McPhee on what may well be his sole career nomination. A real lightning-in-a-bottle year for both performers. Much to be proud of. And Luca’s ode to Smit-McPhee was excellent, even though instead of marking a change in KSM’s fortunes as it was clear Luca was betting on, the piece preceded the additional Kotsur win at Bafta (and at, if you count them – I never do – the Carbon Copy Awards) that likely cemented his coming Oscar win.
This is so cringe. Luca is a good poster, so this condescending post is unnecessary.

You’re so smug and obnoxious and talk in vapid essays that can be trimmed down to two sentences. I suppose you are among those who believe long paragraphs are indicative of meaningful responses or insightful discussion; it’s not.

What’s cringe is people (not Luca or me) taking this all too personally. And I’ve been a KSM fan for months, and thought NBP’s and others’ campaigns to find “anyone but KSM” flagrantly self-serving.
I said nothing that denies that he’s a good poster, either there or previously. Stop attempting to read things that aren’t there.
