    Rebecca Ferguson – Dune

I’ve been manifesting this, and early reviews in Venice have now affirmed it. Lady Jessica in Dune was always going to be one hell of a character to play. Ferguson can become the lone acting nominee to represent this stellar, SAG nominee-worthy cast.

I think Focus can focus on Balfe since she would be a first time nominee and Dench is already a winner and multiple time nominee and everyone knows her.

With Mara and especially Collette in the picture, I honestly doubt that Blanchett would compete here.

I’m here for the Aunjanue Ellis nomination. She most likely won’t win but I’m happy she’s getting recognition on the film side since her work in When They See Us is fantastic.

What I don’t get about Dowd dominating the odds is how is Plimpton so low? They were praised fairly equally, and I understand Dowd getting the edge because she’s so beloved but if she’s some dominant first place shouldn’t Plimpton be at least top 10? I do unfortunately think that this is gonna end up being a Goldderby thing and Mass won’t make much noise at all. Right now I see Dunst going all the way, but I think if Collette is a standout in Nightmare Alley she could be rallied around pretty easily.

Plimpton was added late to the odds (she was in lead initially) which probably explains partly why she’s so low but I agree with you that the confidence in Dowd in retrospect to the lack of confidence in Plimpton is perplexing.

I wish we had more information about the Nightmare Alley ladies since there’ll probably be one who ends up stealing the show e.g Florence Pugh in Little Women.

I think Judi Dench will get in. She feels like a Scarlett Johansson type (maternal role in a crowd-pleasing coming of age period drama). However these don’t feel like winning notices for her.

If Catriona Balfe is campaigned in supporting on the other hand that’s a different story.
