I wouldn’t say it’s the worst role at all. She gets put through……… lol a lotta shit, and she has to do a lotta shit, being the sympathetic character isn’t bad actually, if anything it helps her stand out. I think sadly Collette’s is the worst role, but she will EAT IT UP, so I’m not that worried.

Oh, pardon. Someone just mentioned that and Thats the list of general assumption of GD on this movie.

FYC-Nightmare Alley in All Categories (Best Picture, Guillermo Del Toro for Best Director, Bradley Cooper for Best Actor, Cate Blanchett for Best Actress, Rooney Mara for Best Supporting Actress, Richard Jenkins for Best Supporting Actor)

FYC-Last Night in Soho (Edgar Wright for Best Director, Thomasin McKenzie for Best Actress, Anya Taylor Joy for Best Supporting Actress, Edgar Wright and Krysty Wilson Cairns for Best Original Screenplay)

It’s stupid lol. People think that just because it’s not THE SHOWIEST role it’s the worst, but we’re literally in a Guillermo del Toro film where every character is basically evil and Mara’s is entirely good. In any film but particularly a del Toro film, that’s a prettttttty darn good role!

My god is she beautiful. I mean, obviously that’s just a fact but I don’t think I’ve ever said out loud how gobsmackingly, classically beautiful she is. Like some mythological goddess of yore.

It’s like the Brett Goldstein thing lol, like….is she real or VFX?

If Laura Dern won an Oscar in a strong BP-player, then so can Toni Collette. It’s just that people who can form the narrative seem to be invested in Ann Dowd’s non-existent chances in an already forgotten slow-placed film with internal competition (Plimpton) directed by a first-time director. Toni’s been around forever. She’s one of the most overdue living actress to win an Oscar. I personally won’t stop pushing her until she finally happens.

Laura was in a very weak selection. This year we may have actresses in good roles, with good screen time + in top3 Best Picture nominee, like Dunst ou Balfe. Also, people who read the script says that her character was extremely reduced. It’s not like everyone is able to win a prize just for their status in the industry, just because Laura Dern won…

Cherry Jones is 100% not happening in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, but I enjoyed her small performance quite a bit much more than Garfield’s. Extremely talented actress on stage and television. I hope she gets an Oscar vehicle one day.

    Michelle Williams Oscar campaign manager.

Darlings, Your Prime Minister just saw Dune and while the film was a snooze fest, Witch Mother was truly a revelation. She deserves to be considered in awards season. Those are Thatcher’s holy words, dear citizens.

Marriage Story, Jojo Rabbit and Little Women were all BP nominees, Jojo literally won Adapted Screenplay. It was a strong enough category in my opinion.

Balfe is competing in lead, or do I have the wrong information?

Scarlett wasnt nominated on Golden Globes
    Pugh wasnt nominated on SAG
The two others “critics darlings” Shuzen Zhao and Jlo miss a nomination too
    Bombshell suffered on Metacritic.

Yes. Nothing confirmed about submissions for Belfast, but theres a tea (one from Neglia/Mavity) that Dornan/Balfe are going supporting. The Oscar Expert also ruled out any possibility of them submited in Lead, that they are supporting characters, quite different from Han / Yeun. let’s wait for something official

    Late September Predictions:

    Best Supporting Actress:
1: Kirsten Dunst – The Power of the Dog
    2: Ruth Negga – Passing
    3: Catríona Balfe – Belfast
4: Aunjanue Ellis – King Richard
5: Ariana DeBose – West Side Story

🇮🇪🏆🇮🇪 Really hope these two get in, though I haven’t seen either of their films lol. Negga’s one of our country’s best actors and I’m sure she’s fantastic once again here, would love if she won.
