Damn I really need to see Belfast now to understand how Balfe is somehow getting winner buzz over Dowd, Dunst, and Ellis

It’s so good to see Aunjanue Ellis entered the Oscar race. This actress is great and memorable in some of her brief works, especially her single scene in If Beale Street Could Talk, with only few minutes of screentime, she makes that character a complete, three dimensional, religious nuts who really hated her son’s girlfriend, thanks to Ellis acting, we absolutely loathed her.

About time she got the right material that matched her talents.

YEOP. She was incredible in that scene and role and it’s actually a bit weird she didn’t get more mentions because……it’s a “showy” scene. I don’t think Regina King has a showy scene in the whole film to be fair (but it’s an impeccable performance, fantastic win).

V happy to see Ellis in contention.
