Huns, Oscar pundits/critics don’t learn. They overhype Ellis for that stereotypical POC woman performance meanwhile Ruth Negga gives something so special and unique never seen before and girl is fighting for a nom. These people are so basic.

Are Negga and Ellis the only two actresses with movies out this year? I’m not sure why you’re pitting them against each other. Anyway Negga has the same issues that Dowd and Plimpton have, a weak movie, while Ellis is in one of the stronger ones.

I feel like this category will have two returning previous nominees in the final lineup, but it’s difficult to predict which of the two contenders that would be.

Maybe Meryl Streep or Rita Moreno could happen, Cate Blanchett too but depends how the movie goes.

Having a hard time getting two of those three contenders in my lineup since it seems like Dunst, Balfe, and Ellis are locked in the top 3.

A top 5 filled only with first time nominees isn’t happening

I don’t mean to entirely dismiss Moreno’s chances, but I don’t think I’m convinced just yet that she’s getting nominated above some of the other contenders in discussion or that she’s top 5. I feel like her placement into top 5 is really just due to the movie coming out right before the start of critics awards and pundit hype. I think if a general consensus is that Balfe, Dunst, and Ellis are locked, and a WSS supporting actress is getting in, then I think DeBose is getting that spot over Moreno. That leaves the fifth spot, which I think will be filled by either Blanchett, Streep, or, yes, Negga.

    1. Dunst
    2. Ellis
    3. DeBose
    4. Balfe
    5. Streep

I agree that we’re getting at least two previous nominees. I just don’t know who aside from Streep.

Why is the word “stereotypical” being thrown around today regarding women of color? First Ellis and now Rita Moreno’s legendary win in another thread. White women, especially in this category have played the same type of roles but receive no backlash.

My favorite saying is “Keep that same energy for White women that you have for WOC.”

Aunjanue Ellis’s performance in King Richard does not deserve this disrespect, she was terrific in the film and would be a worthy winner
