Gold Derby is now launching our Oscar predictions center at the earliest date ever! Jump in today over 6 months before nominations are announced on February 8. You can forecast the 2022 Academy Awards nominees in the eight categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay. We will continue to add all 23 categories over the next few months.

Previously nominated or winning directors with new projects this year include Pedro Almodovar (“Parallel Mothers”), Paul Thomas Anderson (“Soggy Bottom”), Wes Anderson (“The French Dispatch”), Jane Campion (“The Power of the Dog”), Joel Coen (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”), Clint Eastwood (“Cry Macho”), Guillermo del Toro (“Nightmare Alley”), Asghar Farhadi (“A Hero”), Tom McCarthy (“Stillwater”), Adam McKay (“Don’t Look Up”), David O. Russell (“Canterbury Glass”), Ridley Scott (“House of Gucci” and “The Last Duel”), Steven Spielberg (“West Side Story”), Denis Villeneuve (“Dune”), Denzel Washington (“A Journal for Jordan”) and Chloe Zhao (“Eternals”).

We are launching our predictions center with 61 films featuring many well-known (and not so well-known) actors and actresses. Keep in mind that additions, deletions and changes will be happening almost weekly for the rest of this year, so keep making updates to your picks all along the way.

Shouldn’t Isaacs and Plimpton be in supporting? Also if A Hero is in for Picture and Director, shouldn’t the actor also be an option?

There a reason for Thomasin Mackenzie and Matt Smith for Soho but not Anya? Also, that awkward moment when I also have Dunst in supporting so I’m missing two of my predictions lmao.

    – The Harder They Fall
    – Anya for Soho in Supporting
    – Doesn’t Tragedy of Macbeth have more supporting players?
    – Fine with Dunst in Lead, she’ll probably be there eventually

Damn guys, after all the pushback I got for saying JHud may not be as much of a lock as y’all are saying, she’s not even in the top 5

Justice for Passing, Tessa Thompson & Ruth Negga.

The Power of the Dog / Jane Campion / Benedict Cumberbatch / Kristen Stewart / Kirsten Dunst / Troy Kotsur

Ruth and Tessa were supposed to be on the actress list but were accidentally not entered. You will see them added soon.

Anya is currently in lead for Soho.

All entries and placements are accurate as of July 23. There will be weekly changes, additions, deletions as we find out more details from the studios.

Is there any reason why Kodi Smit-Mcphee isn’t in the predictions centre for The Power of the Dog?

I don’t see The Card Counter in the predictions center or atleast in Original Screenplay since that is its best shot.

This is my favorite part of the season! The prediction center opening, fall festival lineups being announced, and pointless conjecture about various films’ quality and potential narratives that will unfold. With the messiness of last season robbing us of many “traditions” of the early stages of awards season, it’s nice to feel like it’s back to normal. Let’s see if it actually unfolds that way.

Bring on the trailers and first reactions to this fall’s contenders!

Lol at people thinking Ben Affleck has a good chance of getting nominated for The Last Duel.

I know the odds never make sense at the start of the season, but there are some truly bizarre odds in here. Sian Heder being in the top 5 for Best Director for an August Sundance indie (when the lead of said Sundance indie isn’t in the top 20)? Steven Yeun being anywhere near being nominated for The Humans? Ann Dowd having the best odds in Best Supporting Actress despite having a studio that almost never gets anyone nominated? Corey Hawkins being top 4 for Macbeth (is that role ever something that gets awards traction) and a significant number of people thinking Ben Affleck has an actual shot for The Last Duel? Blonde having 100/1 odds in Picture and Director but 7/1 odds in Screenplay?

Also, there are some clear mistakes in the predictions center. Among other things, Don’t Worry Darling got pushed to 2022, Anya Taylor-Joy is not being pushed in lead for Last Night in Soho and is not in Parallel Mothers, Anders Danielsen Lie should be in the prediction center for The Worst Person in the World, and there’s no way Adam Driver is going lead for The Last Duel.
