The Tragedy of Macbeth is really performing rather well with the guilds.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

I knew it was being underestimated.

Also, really good nomination for Licorice Pizza. Shows guild support for the movie, even if the Production Design isn’t that undeniable.

The Tragedy of Macbeth is “period” despite having witches, while Cruella is “fantasy”?

As much as I love The Lost Daughter that ADG nom is weird as hell. Parallel Mothers would’ve been a much better and more inspiring nominee.

Macbeth is based on a real historical figure, and the weird sisters are not literal, and are implied to be within Macbeth’s mind.

I know Contemporary wasn’t competitive but that nom for The Lost Daughter is really ridiculous.

Macbeth is doing great and surging at the right moment. Why so many people don’t have it in their BP predictions is beyond me.

If MacBeth had been widely seen earlier, I don’t even think it would be a conversation that it’s getting in BP.

People predicting Tick, Tick…BOOM! over it are perplexing.

One thing I noticed is that “Nightmare Alley” got in both these guild awards (Sound and Production Design), but “House of Gucci” did not. Could NA take the 10th spot after all?

Don’t let Erik Anderson try to dictate the narrative. House of Gucci wasn’t expected to get in at neither of these. If it misses Costume Designers Guild then Gucci fans should start to be worried, but what we have right now is that the movie overperformed at SAG (which is one guild) and got three nominations at the Make Up guild.

And at this point I don’t buy Nightmare Alley getting anything above the line after it got almost blanked by BAFTA when everybody got nominated there (not to mention crucial misses at the Sound, VFX and Score shortlists).

It’s most likely going to be this year’s News of the World and get tech nominations only (I’m only predicting Production Design)

It would bump out CODA before Gucci.
