What an extraordinary film and a very deserving BP winner. Incredible to see a Foreign Language Film win for the first time. Had no idea what to expect when watching it but absolutely loved it.

Even if we all are happy about that historic sweep, let’s not forget how this masterful performance was snubbed simply because they probably didn’t even bother to remember his name. Kang-ho was incredible and I’ll definitely watch the rest of his filmography

he was probably snubbed due to all the big names they wanted to nominate for supporting but he would have been a much more deserving nominee than Hopkins( and a better winner than Pitt but that was never going to happen).

They needed to pick one person and push them for the award (like Mahershala Ali in Moonlight.)

The way it was now it was such an ensemble that I don’t think people were able to pick one person and say they deserve a singular nomination. Appropriate though that it did win Best Ensemble at SAG. It really was an ensemble effort.

I heard that Neon was pushing Song Kang-ho, though not enough clearly. Neon isn’t Netflix who could afford big campaigns to remind voters who Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira were.

Darlings, I just watched this thing and it was… a mess. I didn’t even know if this movie was a comedy, a social drama or a horror movie. I thought the plot was silly as hell and some character choices were unbelievably terrible. If you think Bing Bong will win Best Director for this movie, you’re incredibly wrong, my beloved citizens. There wasn’t anything groundbreaking. I mean, it was A DISGUSTING MESS. I have to laugh. All of you thinking this has BP or BD chances is much funnier than this terrible movie.

Well…this has aged like fine wine…that someone poured milk into.

You could see from the FYC advertisements that Neon was pushing Song way ahead of the others, but Bong was not singling him out at every opportunity like Aparicio and de Tavira because Parasite had a much larger cast and that would have been rude, nor was he even on stage as often. I doubt that the voters could tell the cast members apart with all of their names having the same number of syllables. The critics also did Song a disservice by not championing him like they did Aparicio. Maybe they also could not distinguish the cast members.

Just finished this half an hour ago and I’m confident to say that if the members of the Academy take some time to watch this, it will win Best Director, Original Screenplay and become the first foreign film to win Best Picture. I’m smiling as I write this.

    This aged very well.

It has to be said that whoever was behind the Parasite Oscar campaign at Neon had a huge part to play in this history. This was one of the best campaigns we’ve seen in years. All of the passion for this film would have gone nowhere without this rigorous campaign.

Song Kang Ho gave an Oscar winning performance. Such a shame he wasn’t nominated for any of the big precursors.

I truly believe just like Tom O’Neill said that if one of the supporting players in Parasite had been nominated they could’ve very well won. I mean if the passion for the film could win it Best Director which seemed like a huge long shot then I don’t think it’s unrealistic to say it could’ve pulled off a Supporting Actor/Supporting Actress upset as well.

I remember 4 months ago I didn’t even think this film would be nominated for Best Picture because of how poorly Neon campaigned I Tonya. Needless to say they did a full 180 this year. Phenomenal job!

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay
