The dumba$# FINALLY saw the movie and had a change of opinion. He should have seen the movie before going on a rampage about it winning.

It’s completely a 180 degree turn of his opinion about parasite. He now has the following claims:

1.) He enjoyed Parasite. He found the ending Fantastic. He claims it is a Brilliantly made film and thus recommends it.

2.) He doesn’t mind reading subtitles, he watched Parasite feeling as if there weren’t any subtitles at all. He would have preferred it to be dubbed though, but he doesn’t mind it being subtitled.

3.) He doesn’t think Parasite is better than Joker nor vice versa. But he still thinks Joker should win Best Picture because it resonates to him more on a personal level as he is a comic book aficionado.

I’m surprised he didn’t bash Parasite after seeing the movie. I feel like he enjoys the publicity though, even if it is extremely unfavorable to him.

I have a American friend who’s a fellow Cinephile and he loved Parasite and considers it Top5 film he has seen in 10s.

Though,he don’t agree on Foreign Language Films getting nominated and winning at Oscars other than Best Foreign Film category.

He believe that Oscars are Hollywood Film Awards and he don’t see Hollywood films getting nominated at Cesars or Bodil awards whereas Hollywood films release everywhere.

I am having alot of disagreement and chat fight with him recently about this topic.

Have you told him that the Oscars have never been exclusively for Hollywood films for almost their entire history?

    That’s the first thing,I say.
I always say first thing that Oscars are World Film Awards.

He then argue back by saying that why weren’t Foreign Films recognized in categories other than Best FLF for so long.

Your friend needs to explain The King’s Speech, Slumdog Millionaire and Roma (who almost could have won Best Picture)

You’re right but he considers every UK film to be a Hollywood Film as they aren’t distributed without a major Hollywood Film Studio.

They were. Point out to him some foreign screenplay, art direction and costume design nominees from the 40s and 50s. They’re all on Wikipedia.

I am but he seems to know in deep inside but he don’t want to accept it.

It was about time,Oscars finally gave Best Picture to Non English film.

This is beginning of a Positive Change.

Ah yes, I love these fantastic Hollywood films like Kes, Withnail & I, Blue Story, Wild Rose, Crying Game, Bridget Jones, East Is East, Bend It Like Beckham, Under the Skin, Blue Story, Love Actually, Four Lions, Made in Dagenham, East Is East, Pride and Paddington.

Such fantastic American made, old school Hollywood pictures

    You’re right absolutely.

    I have a question.

Since now that title has changed from Best Foreign Language Film to Best International Feature Film.

Can British,Canadian and Australian film get nominated in that category.

They are International but not Foreign Language.
