Trailer dropped today
Looks more like a commercial bid than an awards player but Morten Tyldum’s last directorial effort was The Imitation Game which played well commercially AND also got a fair amount of awards traction. Also reminds me a bit of The Martian. Keeping on eye on this one.
Also starring GoldDerby favorite, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence 🙂September 20, 2016 at 9:28 am #1201925497
Looks completely lethargic and uninspired to me. That said, it’ll probably be in contention for tech prizes.
OSCAR FLASHBACK: Best Original Song (2015) – Someday, Diane Warren, You’ll Get ThisSeptember 20, 2016 at 9:36 am #1201925504
Jennifer Lawrence has no acting range. It looks like she’s playing the same role over and over again.September 20, 2016 at 10:12 am #1201925512
The trailer looks interesting enough for me to watch. I’m not sure if this is an awards contender, but I’m very particular with sci-fi films. Still looks better than the cheese that’s being served in Arrival.September 20, 2016 at 12:27 pm #1201925552
Could get nominated for Production Design (PD is Guy Hendrix Dyas of Inception; set decorator is Gene Serdena who worked on Her). And of course Visual Effects.September 20, 2016 at 12:56 pm #1201925573
Yeah, aside from the trailer spoiling parts of the movie (which I hate), it doesn’t look like a major awards contender. Maybe some tech categories. Honestly, with such a stacked Actress category, I’m actually hoping Lawrence isn’t good enough to be nominated, because that would take a slot from my favorites. She’ll get another Oscar soon. Just not this year.September 20, 2016 at 5:15 pm #1201925646
It looks like when comedies mock on how Hollywood executives decide on their next big huge massive hit. “You will have all the budget you don’t need just use it! Reunite the two brightest youngest hottest whitest stars! They will save humanity looking flawless because they can! And make them be chemistry-free torridly smoldering whispery in love! In space!”September 20, 2016 at 5:42 pm #1201925649
Officially removing this from my predictions, although I suppose there’s still a chance it plays well at the box office and takes the Avatar/Gravity slot.
Seems completely paint by the numbers. Lawrence’s line readings are just plain awful.September 21, 2016 at 8:28 am #1201925865
Looks fun! I love Lawrence and Pratt together and am interested to see what comes of this. Michael Sheen looks like he could steal the whole movie. How is he not an Oscar nominee yet? Not saying this will be it but stranger things have happenedSeptember 21, 2016 at 1:40 pm #1201925989
Outside of a few techs I dont see this going anywhereSeptember 22, 2016 at 10:15 am #1201926179
This trailer was ok. Doesn’t make me want to see it either. Also, I think the robot bartender is a great idea.September 22, 2016 at 4:45 pm #1201926302
Everyone looks fine here, but nothing special. I’ve come to understand though that the script is far better than the trailer suggests. Hope that is true, because I love the concept and want to love the movie.November 25, 2016 at 6:05 pm #1201956884
