John Travolta turned down Forrest Gump

John Travolta has openly admitted in several interviews that passing on the role of Forrest Gump was one of the biggest mistakes of his career.

He shouldn’t feel that way. It would have been a worse movie were he Forrest.

Mark Wahlberg too. He couldn’t stomach having a scene with Ledger.

Wow Chevy Chase really screwed up big time.

Meg Ryan turned down Julia Roberts’ part in Steel Magnolias to do When Harry Met Sally but that was probably a good move. She didn’t get a nomination but got an iconic role.

Sally Field supposedly turned down some version of Moonstruck.

Shirley MacLaine passed on Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore which she thought was a dumb move on her part.

Jennifer Lawrence turned down Jennifer Jason Leigh’s role in The Hateful Eight because she was busy with Joy and press for The Hunger Games.

Leonardo DiCaprio turned down Benedict Cumberbatch’s role in The Imitation Game.

Tiffany Haddish turned down a role in Get Out. I assume Betty Gabriel’s part, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was a gender-swapped version of Daniel Kaluuya’s either.

Jennifer Connelly turned down Julia Roberts’ role in Pretty Woman because she felt she was too young.

Mel Gibson turned down Russell Crowe’s part in Gladiator because he felt he was too old and because of the intensity of the action scenes.

Liam Neeson was at one point attached to play Lincoln in Lincoln.

Scarlett Johansson was considered for Rooney Mara’s role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but was deemed too beautiful.

Angelina Jolie turned down Sandra Bullock’s part in Gravity.

Jeremy Irons turned down Anthony Hopkins’ role in The Silence of the Lambs because he thought the character was too cruel.

Madonna was considered for Salma Hayek’s part in Frida.

Emmys FYC: Maya Erskine in PEN15, Paapa Essiedu in I May Destroy You, Keeley Hawes in It's a Sin, Carl Lumbly in TFATWS, Cristin Milioti in Made for Love, Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision, Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie, Hailee Steinfeld in Dickinson, William Zabka in Cobra Kai

Anjelica Huston was offered Misery, but chose The Grifters. Even though Bates won for the former, I still think Huston made the right choice.

Kate Winslet turned down Shakespeare in love. I think she did not want to do another love story after Titanic. Bad move, if you ask me.

Wasn’t there was also a period in between Leo & Joaquin where Bradley Cooper was discussions to play the titular role?

I always wonder why Todd Phillips didn´t think in his friend Bradley Copper for the role of Joker

No, the choice was always and only between those two frontrunners, DiCaprio was the first choice, he passed because of his bias against comic book films, so it went to Joaquin.

This one is insane to me because IMO Rooney Mara is one of the most beautiful actresses working today, even if not as traditionally attractive as ScarJo.
