That is an interesting one. For all of them to turn it down and then have to sit there and watch Sally get so much acclaim must have been odd. Diane Keaton turned it down too. Odd. I wonder why none of them saw the value of the role.

the pro-union sentiment would’ve been controversial at the time, and jane fonda was developing 9 to 5 so she probably didn’t want to do another “labor film”

All I know is the actor is American and I’ve never been able to find that out who it was.

I always thought it was Nicholson but only because I remember someone saying it on E

marsha mason, jill clayburgh and jane fonda all turned down norma rae and then lost to sally field at the oscars

I am kinda glad they did tbh. It’s really difficult to see anyone other than Field in the role

Last week I saw The Goodbye Girl. I read the trivia and I found out Robert De Niro was supposed to starred but was fired and refused to explain the reason why. And also Dustin Hoffman was also interested since it was based on his life as an actor but the role eventually goes to Richard Dreyfuss.

Madonna turned down “Music from the heart”. Never really knew why she disagreed with Wes Craven.

Natasha Richardson turned down Howards End which I always thought was odd since her mother was in it.

On the DVD of Terms of Endearment James L. Brooks says an actress turned down the Debra Winger role because of an oral sex joke in the film.

I always wondered who that could have been.

    There is 5,744 days (16 years) between Thompson’s date of birth & Cooper’s (1959 & 1975 respectively).

There is 5,701 days between Cooper’s date Of birth & Jennifer Lawrence’s.
