Sometimes as awards pundit you scramble around IMDb to look up an actor for something and you look at their award history for fun and suddenly, “Oscar nominated for so and so”. You ever go really? (But, in a good, shocked way)

    Here are some examples:

Jeff Goldblum (Best Short film, Live Action-Little Surprises) (nominated)
Sean Astin (Best Short film, Live Action-Kangaroo Court) (nominated)
Christine Lahti (Best Short film, Live Action-Lieberman in Love) (Winner)
Danny DeVito (Best Picture-Erin Brockovich) (nominated)
Tom Waits (Best Music, original Song Score and its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score [Defunct]-One From The Heart)
    (nominated)

These are just some. Any one else?

Owen Wilson (Original Screenplay for The Royal Tenembauns)

William Zabka (Short Film/Live Action – Most)

Elisabeth Shue (Best Actress – Leaving Las Vegas)

I remember like 10 years ago when I first started getting into the oscars and was surprised how many actors that I knew and liked had been nominated, Kate Hudson was literally my mental example of a super famous actress (this was more true 10 years ago lol) who had definitely never been nominated – only for me to find out that she in fact had been nominated lol

The amount of times the VT on American Idol refers to Lionel Richie as “Academy Award winner” and I’m always taken aback “ooh that’s right, he does have an Oscar”.

I often forget that Ethan Hawke is a four-time, not merely a two-time nominee, as he was recognised for co-writing Before Sunset and Before Midnight as well as his two acting noms.
