Katharine Hepburn was Oscar-nominated for The Philadelphia Story.

    She should’ve won the award.

I’d say it’s weird that Kingsley wasn’t able to get any traction for Hugo in suuuuch a weak category.

    Danny Glover (The Color Purple)
Sharon Jones & Regina King (Ray) Sidney Poitier (In the Heat of the Night)

    Absolutely

Thinking about how Regina would easily get the nom (and even be competitive to win) for Ray nowadays. But she was still hella underrated and unrecognized back then

Courtney Love screwed herself out of a nomination by wanting to go lead. She’d probably have gotten in as Supporting (taking Joan Allen’s spot.) I always thought her desire to go lead probably had something to do with wanting to beat out Madonna for Evita. She’s always had animosity towards her. (she threw a shoe at Madonna once on MTV live and Madonna said something about this is what recreational drug use does to you.)

I wonder if there’s a chance that in the end Madonna and Courtney vote splitted so that neither were Oscar nominated, the irony! Shame as I thought both were fantastic.

I’m still surprised Jennifer Connelly wasn’t nominated for House of Sand and Fog. It was well received by the Academy and not long after her Oscar win.

Other picks would be Angela Basset for Malcolm X and Jada Pinkett for Ali, Kerry Washington for Ray.

    FYC:

Antonio Banderas and Asier Etxeandia, Dolor y Gloria (Best Actor/Supporting Actor)
Emily Beecham, Little Joe (Best Actress)
Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren, The Good Liar (Best Actor/Actress)

Looking at this years, “honest ballots”, it seems that having 3 eternal Razzie favourites in Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Lopez all competing for Oscars this year is was too much for certain voters to handle and blanked them all completely.

I image a similar thing would’ve happened with two world famous musicians Madonna & Courtney.

Still can’t believe that Jonathan Pryce got nominated for that average performance over Adam Sandler and Taron Egerton.
