Maybe these should be called “prestige performances we find Razzie worthy”.

i find bad prestige performances much worse than actual bad performance from actors that didn’t try.

A lot of these seem more like “we’re upset that this performance won an Oscar over my preferred performance” or “this performance stole a nomination from another one” rather than these are Razzie worthy.

I mean Frances McDormand?!?! Come on. I preferred Robbie and Hawkins that year but just because FMD played her character over the top doesn’t mean she was Razzie worthy lol. I mean that was how the character was meant to be and there was an entire scene in that film devoted to why her character was liked that.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I think those comments stem from the fact that he literally obliterated every competition in 2018. Nobody with any clue about acting could watch 3BB and say unironically that this was one of the worst performances of the year.

But 95% of the performances mentioned in this thread aren’t even bad, most bad prestige performances don’t get award attention because they are bad (Waltz in Big Eyes, The Goldfinch cast, everybody in Rent except for Dawson & Thoms)

i won’t pretend having a clue about acting. that’s just pretentious and honestly doesn’t mean anything because we all assess performances differently and that’s ok. watching a film is a subjective experience. what i will say tho is that sam rockwell was atrocious in the role and completely deserved a razzie for it in my opinion 🙂 so did frances mcdormand and the film’s screenplay.

Ladies and gays, I’m sorry for everyone offended by my severe spillage, but it’s just what it is.

The whole cast of Nine. The fact they got an ensemble nom at SAG Awards when basically 80% of them acted like headless chickens spitting lines for the sake of it…The power of Weinstein was real

Gwyneth Paltrow in Country Strong. I still kii at that weird campaign that tried to make her happen very early on in that 2011´s season riding on Bullock´s win the year before.

Already mentioned it but it deserves another, the original Broadway cast who reprised their roles in 2005’s “Rent” were all just awful. None of them knew how to perform for a camera/take direction and the entirely time to looked so depressed to be there.

Thank god for Rosario Dawson & Tracie Thoms.

Why are some of you fuming at what someone else mentioned? Never heard of subjectivity? It seems like you are the ones who need to google…
