    Here’s my ranking:

(If PARASITE wins, it will become #1…if MARRIAGE STORY wins, it will probably be my #2 choice)

    #1-Moonlight (easily)
    #2-Birdman
    #3-12 Years a Slave
    #4-The Shape of Water
    #5-The Hurt Locker
    #6-Argo
    #7-The Artist
    #8-Spotlight
    #9-The King’s Speech
    #10-Green Book

Not to be nasty, but I do feel we should have waited a few months to create this thread, when we will have the actual list of winners for the decade. The Hurt Locker is very much a film of the previous decade, not this one.

As it stands, though, it is the best film (by far) of those listed in the poll.

Thank you for stating your opinion! I for one don’t find it one bit nasty.

Just to clarify, this poll is for picking the best winner of the decade – that is, the best movie that won the Oscar for Best Picture during the decade that is just about to end.

Next year, can’t wait to cast a vote in the poll for the best Best Picture winner released during this decade.

The Artist is my favorite winner. It’s such a unique film – although I prefer Midnight In Paris from that same year.

I’m surprised Birdman is this popular. Moonlight winning is expected but by such a small margin? Who knew.

I chose Shape of Water although I wasn’t too sure. This decade made major moves in bringing our craziest fantasies to life. With social media making everything seem much much darker (world has always been messed up, we just know more about it now), we turn to movies for fantastical escape. So I vehemently think the winners should’ve included shows like Mad Max and Life of Pi to reflect that zeitgeist.

Anyway, going by what we got….

    Shape of Water
    12 Years a Slave
    The Hurt Locker
    Spotlight
    Argo
    Moonlight
    Green Book
    Birdman
    The King’s Speech

    Didn’t watch The Artist

I just love movies. And awards.

I haven’t seen Hurt Locker, The King’s Speech, or The Artist, but from what I have seen I’d go with Birdman. 12 Years a Slave is my runner up.

I’d rank “The Hurt Locker” sixth or seventh.
