Every year when the AMPAS announces their Academy Award nominees in their annual tradition, another annual tradition takes place. Almost instantly the entire internet is flooded with movie fans listing the snubs and surprises the Academy gives to us in very generous doses.
Let’s predict what will make up those lists, come Thursday. List them and I will put them underneath the headings below
Joaquin Phoenix (The Master) missing out in a competitive category
Emmanuelle Riva (Amour) being dropped out of a very weak field
Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained) making it into Supporting Actor
Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) appearing in Lead ActorJanuary 7, 2013 at 12:14 pm #81963
Snubs: Nicole Kidman, Joaquin Phoenix, Bradley Cooper, Helen Mirren, and Robert DeNiro

SNUB: PHOENIXJanuary 7, 2013 at 12:27 pm #81965
Lol! I still say Phoenix is IN. The film itself has seen a major dive, but I’m not so sure this will extend to every member of the cast…nor ANY member of the cast..

i “love” this time of year around here where every single f*$#in year we gotta read about how such and such category is a weak line up. every year. thats such an unnecessary, annoying slap in the face to all the performers. rant over.

Lincoln receives fewer nominations than Zero Dark Thirty.January 7, 2013 at 2:03 pm #81971

Ang Lee for Director
John Hawkes for Actor

People like Phoenix, De Niro and Kidman are all 4th-5th-6th place contenders so I don’t think any of them missing or getting in would be a snub or surprise.
In terms of real outliers, but still within the realm of possibility, I think the following would be surprising:
A reduced Best Picture lineup (5-7 nominees) with Les Miserables getting snubbed
Rachel Weisz getting in for Lead Actress
Samuel L. Jackson getting in for Supporting Actor
Samantha Barks getting in for Supporting Actress
Ang Lee getting snubbed for DirectorJanuary 7, 2013 at 3:47 pm #81974
Snubs: Amy Adamys & Joaquin Phoenix (please god), The Master misses in screenplay
Surprises: Skyfall in picture and Dench and Bardem also make it, Best exotic Marigold Hotel gets a picture nominationJanuary 7, 2013 at 4:36 pm #81975
So this is a wish list? LOL!
Argo wins an Emmy, instead of any noms for Oscar
Doona Bae makes it in for Best Actress. Or is almost every single person in the film Supporting?
Jack Black gets that nomination
I have more….January 7, 2013 at 5:02 pm #81976
