Released on Netflix today. 83 on metacritic and raves for Kathryn Hahn, the second most underrated working actress. I think she could surprise as SAG, considering it’s an earlyish release, SAG loves Netflix, she has raves, and they can be random like that sometimes.

I may agree with you, but it’s a crowded year in Lead Actress. I would love to see Hahn get awards recognition and I haven’t even watched the trailer for this movie, but it’s too competitive a year, I think.

I loved this movie! I was highly anticipating Hahn’s performance, which totally lived up to and surpassed my very high expectations but I was surprised how good the movie as a whole was and how good the rest of the cast was. Hahn could definitely end up being my personal winner this year, and Giamatti and Kayli Carter are both worthy of oscar noms for this. Molly Shannon is terrific as well.

I wonder if Netflix will ever consider campaigning movies like this for emmys instead of oscars. As far as I know it’s eligible for both, at least that’s what Anne Thompson said about Mudbound. Unless she was wrong about that Netflix could single handedly make the TV movie category relevant again and completely dominate the category, they just have to have to desire to do so.

Moving film. Kathryn Hahn and Paul Giamatti were fantastic together. I’d say that its best Oscar hopes lie with Tamara Jenkins in Best Original Screenplay since she’s managed that before. If this gets any level of Netflix campaigning priority next year, then it might manage some attention for Hahn after its breakthrough for “Mudbound.” But for now, I’m only predicting Jenkins in an increasingly competitive field.

Brilliant movie. Netflix better campaign Hahn and Giamatti. Shannon was fantastic to. My second favorite film of the year. Absolutely hilarious as well. Very personal. Loved it.
