Just regarding this movie. In a week when Australia’s Attorney-General (the first law officer of the land) is alleged to have raped a woman who later killed herself, and when other rapes of parliamentary staffers have been reported to police (all covered up by the smirky men in government) to have occurred in the office of a minister which they cleaned the next day and wiped CCTV of; in a week when a woman was kidnapped and murdered by an off-duty police officer; when the reaction of the men in charge was (Australia): the protesters are lucky they didn’t get shot, we’re the lucky country, and (UK) let’s sic the police on grieving and pissed off women, grieving that a police officer used his systematic privilege to stalk and terrorise a woman to death … these nominations have made me cry. My 70 year old mother went to a rally today in Australia, protesting against patriarchal systemic violence against women. I can’t recall being so moved by the groundswell – for unrelated (related) reasons on different continents. As I said to my sister: it’s not that there is a trend, or rape is increasing. It’s that accountability and consequences are finally seeing the light of day.

With those thing raging in my mind … fuck yes for this movie. A movie about what every. single. woman understands. And so few men do. Men don’t even know when they’re raping. Paraphrasing what has been said in Australia: there are people, and there are women.

I have been sexually assaulted on the street, I have been sexually harrassed in the workplace, I have been sub-gendered my whole life. This movie screamed “fuck. them.” to me and even despite the consequences (inevitable, that’s how it is), the tide IS turning. I hope a whole lot of people see this movie. And I pray that a lot of men are looking inwards and asking “fuck, have I?”

Makes sense, both Focus & Sky/Now are Comcast subsidiaries.

Wonder if this means it’s going to be on Sky and nowhere else or if it will go up for people to rent (like The Secret Garden and Soul and The Big Sick). I mean I can’t imagine it will get a large audience on something like Sky Cinema lol.

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")
