Woody Allen’s RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK…
I understand the personal controversy – but why are performances like Elle Fanning’s and Cherry Jones’ not even being mentioned in awards talk?

It’s a two year old film and doesn’t even have any kind of US distributor.

The film itself just isn’t that good, majority of the cast rise above the meh screenplay but just barely.

Imho it’s the worst thing Woody Allen has ever made. It’s as if someone who doesn’t know how to make a movie made a Woody Allen parody flick. It also had some of the worst lighting issues I have ever seen in a film. But take that with a grain of salt since I’m not a huge Woody Allen fan to begin with.

Honestly, they just let the film fade into obscurity. It’s been two years and I doubt that if it was good they would have let any Woody contoversy stop them so it must be a clunker.

I think it’s a charming film!
Not my favorite Allen picture, but the female performances are exquisite – especially Elle Fanning (who is like a delightful 18 yr old Annie Hall) and the great and powerful Cherry Jones.

Woody Allen is hit or miss for me. But when he hits, he really hits it out of the ballpark. Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters (my favorite), Interiors, Midnight in Paris, Manhattan and Blue Jasmine to name a few. I would like to see “Rainy Day in New York” just because I’ve watched everything he has done.

HBO Max has a ‘sneak peak’ of the upcoming four part documentary Allen versus Farrow – I cringed at some of the accusations against Woody. It seems, from the clips I saw, that Mia and Woody are looking through different lenses and both want the last word on what they believed happened. Should be quite interesting, I think.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Its one of the most bizzare movies ive ever seen. I cant say anything about the performances because the script was so bizzare. At least the three leads (Fanning, Chalamet and Selena Gomez) were trying to make that script work.</p>
 

Which is kinda ironic because all of them denounced Allen later
