I do wonder how this year’s award season will be. I know most ‘Oscar-y’ films have late release dates, but we truly do not know how long this is going to last…April 18, 2020 at 8:47 am #1203433643

^Ryan Gosling & Toni Collette in which movies?April 20, 2020 at 11:25 am #1203437198
Zootopia is a fantastic film (probably Disney Animation’s best since The Lion King) that got completely ruined by slutty fanfiction and furries, and that pisses me off to this very day.

I wish Jessica Lange had picked more subtle roles like the ones in All That Jazz and Tootsie. She is the queen of meltdowns and I love that but it gets tiring at some point.

I feel like editing can have three different kinds of ambitions.
1. To mesmerize viewers in the story itself (all Fincher films, Argo, Parasite). I’m definitely biased toward this kind of movies.
2. To have the viewers chew on the scenery or emotions just enough, so as to make each shot tantalizing (all Cuaron films, OUATIH, Mad Max Fury Road). I think this can work wonders but only if it has killer cinematography. Otherwise no slow-burn for me please.
3. To help easily digest fast-cutting action and create thrill (Dunkirk, FvF).August 1, 2020 at 3:37 pm #1203621104
Inherent Vice is a one of the more unpleasant film experiences I’ve ever had but the flashback scene where the running through the rain is so fantastic its like an entirely other PTA took over for 5 minutes and then was squashed down again.August 2, 2020 at 3:02 pm #1203622516This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.August 11, 2020 at 3:17 pm #1203640530
I just watched The Hunt (2020) and I though it was a great movie, very fast paced, with a great and creative script and a great message.
Betty Gilpin and Hillary Swank were great on it.
This years “mother!” imo.
