One of my favorite years for this category, full of #1 actresses.
    For me it would be:
    1-Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine
    2-Amy Adams in American Hustle
    3-Sandra Bullock in Gravity
4-Meryl Streep in August: Osage County
5-Judi Dench in Philomena (wouldn´t nominate her tbh)

    1. Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine
    2. Sandra Bullock, Gravity
    3. Judi Dench, Philomena
    4. Meryl Streep, August: Osage County
    5. Amy Adams, American Hustle

Neither Adams or Streep deserved to be nominated. Dench is criminally underrated in Philomena, and both Bullock and Blanchett were spectacular.

    Personal:
    1. Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine
    2. Addle Exarchopoulos, Blue Is the Warmest Color
    3. Emma Thompson, Saving Mr. Banks
    4. Sandra Bullock, Gravity
    5. Judi Dench, Philomena

    6. Julie Delpy, Before Midnight
    7. Brie Larson, Short Term 12
    8. Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
    9. Julia Roberts, August: Osage County
    10. Amanda Seyfried, Lovelace

    Blanchett
    Adams
    Streep
    Dench
    Bullock

I’m not entirely sure I’d actually have Streep above Dench (haven’t rewatched either film since that season), but I’m giving Meryl the edge for putting more effort into this performance than she’s usually done this century.

    1. Cate Blanchett (an all-time best performance)
    2. Sandra Bullock (absolutely commanded this picture)
    3. Meryl Streep (remarkable displays of emotion)

    4. Judi Dench (Good, but arguably not superior to others of the year)
    4. Amy Adams (smart performance, but this was an ensemble nod)

I cannot reasonably rank one above the other.

In terms of a personal ballot, Blanchett and Bullock are the only definitive musts. Adams, Dench, and Streep are in fine form, but I do believe there were several other contenders worthy of recognition: Adele Exarchopoulos in Blue is the Warmest Color, Brie Larson in Short Term 12, Emma Thompson in Saving Mr. Banks, Greta Gerwig in Frances Ha, Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Enough Said, and Julie Delphy in Before Midnight.

I’d probably nominated Larson over either Dench or Adams. Exarchopoulos would be next in line, but I don’t think that performance was as perfect as some present it as.
