For whatever it is worth, in the GB Combined Oscar Predictions for Best Actress, Mulligan currently has TEN TIMES as many first place votes as any of the other four nominees:

    Carey Mulligan 1434

    Frances McDormand 143

    Andra Day 105

    Viola Davis 101

    Vanessa Kirby 31

Because it’s disproportionate, and bitchy. Women are constantly compared, ranked and judged in society, where men are not. Are you a man? Ask yourself why you’re more interested in the numerous threads comparing women for random things like “rank these 2009 nominees” (in 2021), or compare these supporting actresses (posted on International Women’s Day) or the fact that Best Actress is a disgusting thread I won’t enter, and it’s on its 40th thread, rather than anyone ever posting to compare men. Think deeper, come on, I know you can do it.

we’re just ranking performances that we are thinking are the best in the lineup. And the forum people in goldderby were more interested to talk about female performances than men because best actor race were boring with clear winner. I  can’t believe you always make this about politics and gender equality. Yuck.

It’s weird that I’ve wound up in a place where I think Mulligan should have two statues for Best Actress based on what the Academy nominated, yet neither is a worthy performance. It’s simply that her competition is just that much worse lol.

    Mulligan
    Kirby
    Davis

Because it’s disproportionate, and bitchy. Women are constantly compared, ranked and judged in society, where men are not. Are you a man? Ask yourself why you’re more interested in the numerous threads comparing women for random things like “rank these 2009 nominees” (in 2021), or compare these supporting actresses (posted on International Women’s Day) or the fact that Best Actress is a disgusting thread I won’t enter, and it’s on its 40th thread, rather than anyone ever posting to compare men. Think deeper, come on, I know you can do it.

This is a website where people come to discuss, predict and at times rank performances of men and women, so you acting like its only the women that get ranked is just not true at all and you clearly just grasp at anything to back up your idea that women are ranked and judged whereas men are not.

Also I have no idea why you assume I’m more interested in the threads centred around women because that’s just not true at all, I like film so any type of film discussion is interesting to me. You said yourself that you wont even enter the Best Actress thread because you find it ‘disgusting’ for whatever reason so like i said before it just seems like you just have something against even discussing women.

So yeah I don’t need to ‘think deeper’ like you patronisingly suggested, people talk about the male and female categories and you need to get over it.
