I figured now would be a good time to rank all of the Oscar winners in any individual category from this past decade of the 2010s. Here’s how I rank the winners for Best Actress:
1. Frances McDormand-Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
2. Cate Blanchett-Blue Jasmine
3. Natalie Portman-Black Swan
4. Julianne Moore-Still Alice
5. Renée Zellweger-Judy
6. Olivia Colman-The Favourite
7. Jennifer Lawrence-Silver Linings Playbook
8. Meryl Streep-The Iron Lady
9. Brie Larson-Room
10. Emma Stone-La La LandSo what’s your ranking? Even if you haven’t seen all 10 of these winners, feel free to rank the ones you have actually seen.
ReplyMay 5, 2020 at 7:37 am #1203464287I genuinely love all of these performances minus Zellweger and I guess Streep? It’s been a minute since I saw Iron Lady. I feel like that performance was praised at the time but now is such a source of ridicule. I need to revisit it before I make a final opinion.
I don’t even know how to rank the other 8. I think I would have Colman at the top, it’s such a tour-de-force and an exciting win. But Blanchett also makes sense up there.

I would only give the Oscar to the first 4. All the other could’ve been easily replaced with more accomplished and superior performances.

May 5, 2020 at 10:00 am #12034647491. Cate Blanchett
2. Olivia Colman
3. Meryl Streep (didn’t enjoy this performance and thought she should have lost to Viola, but it’s technically well done)
4. Renee Zellweger
5. Natalie Portman (think this performance is somewhat overrated. She just spends 80% of the movie being timid and uncertain)
6. Jennifer Lawrence
7. Brie Larson
8. Frances McDormand/Emma Stone (neither are bad…Frances is just one note, and Emma’s is kind of cutesy and forgettable)
Didn’t see Still Alice
