So I did a bit of research and found that no one has started a thread on this topic yet. Now that I’ve seen every single Oscar winner for Best Actress from the 1950s, here’s how I rank them:

    1. Vivien Leigh-A Streetcar Named Desire
    2. Shirley Booth-Come Back, Little Sheba
    3. Anna Magnani-The Rose Tattoo
    4. Joanne Woodward-The Three Faces of Eve
    5. Susan Hayward-I Want to Live!
    6. Audrey Hepburn-Roman Holiday
    7. Grace Kelly-The Country Girl
    8. Judy Holliday-Born Yesterday
    9. Ingrid Bergman-Anastasia
    10. Simone Signoret-Room at the Top

So what’s your ranking? Even if you haven’t seen all ten of these winners, feel free to rank the ones you have actually seen.

Damn, Had Bette Davis, and Judy garland won, this would’ve been the best decade of winners.

    4. Audrey Hepburn-Roman Holiday*

    8. Susan Hayward-I Want to Live!
    9. Grace Kelly-The Country Girl

*My personal favorite that I can re-watch over and over. Hepburn was so winning, distinctive, and not of this world. No other face mixed with charisma and charm has captivated me as much on film.
