So I did a bit of research and found that no one has started a thread on this topic yet. Now that I’ve seen every single Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress from the 1960s, here’s how I rank them:

    1. Patty Duke-The Miracle Worker
    2. Shelley Winters-A Patch of Blue
    3. Rita Moreno-West Side Story
    4. Sandy Dennis-Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
    5. Lila Kedrova-Zorba the Greek
    6. Shirley Jones-Elmer Gantry
    7. Estelle Parsons-Bonnie & Clyde
    8. Ruth Gordon-Rosemary’s Baby
    9. Margaret Rutherford-The V.I.P.s
    10. Goldie Hwan-Cactus Flower

So what’s your ranking? Even if you haven’t seen all ten of these winners, feel free to rank the ones you have actually seen.

    1. Sandy Dennis
    2. Ruth Gordon
    3. Lila Kedrova
    4. Rita Moreno
    5. Patty Duke
    6. Estelle Parsons
    7. Shirley Jones
    8. Goldie Hawn
    9. Shelley Winters
    10. Margaret Rutherford

My top 3 were very deserving winnnees in my opinion. Moreno is in a close battle with Judy Garland.

5-8 fall into fine winners but not sure I would’ve voted for them…well, actually I probably would’ve voted for Parsons.

    9-10 were bad choices.

    1. Ruth Gordon, Rosemary’s Baby (deserved her win!)
    2. Sandy Dennis, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (deserved)
    3. Shelley Winters, A Patch of Blue (deserved)
    4. Patty Duke, The Miracle Worker (Angela Lansbury should have won)
    5. Estelle Parsons, Bonnie and Clyde (preferred Mildred Natwick)
    6. Margaret Rutherford, The V.I.P.’s (preferreed Edith Evans)
    7. Lila Kedrova, Zorba the Greek (preferred Edith Evans)
    8. Shirley Jones, Elmer Gantry (definitely should have been Janet Leigh)
    9. Rita Moreno, West Side Story (Una Merkel was my choice, but Fay Bainter, Judy Garland and Lotte Lenya were all worthy too)
    10. Goldie Hawn, Cactus Flower (Dyan Cannon was my choice)
