So I did a bit of research and found that no one has started a thread on this topic yet. Now that I’ve seen every single Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress from the 1980s, here’s how I rank them:

    1. Brenda Fricker-My Left Foot
    2. Mary Steenburgen-Melvin & Howard
    3. Linda Hunt-The Year of Living Dangerously
    4. Angelica Huston-Prizzi’s Honor
    5. Maureen Stapleton-Reds
    6. Geena Davis-The Accidental Tourist
    7. Peggy Ashcroft-A Passage to India
    8. Dianne Wiest-Hannah and Her Sisters
    9. Olympia Dukakis-Moonstruck
    10. Jessica Lange-Tootsie

So what’s your ranking? Even if you haven’t seen all ten of these winners, feel free to rank the ones you have actually seen.

    Here is my biased ranking:

    Mary Steenburgen M and H
Brenda Fricker MLF (she’s simply amazing)
Oh oh…the rest is throw a dart time….
    Linda Hunt (intense and transformative)
Peggy Ashcroft. Because I love her.
    Maureen Stapleton. Ditto.
    Dianne Wiest. Sublime
    Olympia Dukakis. A Gem
Angelica Huston. Didn’t miss a beat.
    Jessica Lange. Fairly adorable.
    Geena Davis. Cluck cluck.

    All have their moments.
