Now that the 2010’s are over, here’s how I rank the pair of screenplay winners from this past decade. I was able to figure out my rankings based on how many of the screenplay winners in a specific year I 100% agree with:

    1. 2013 (2/2)

    2. 2014 (2/2)

    3. 2010 (1/2) – My personal winner for Best Original Screenplay was Inception (though The King’s Speech was my runner-up).

    4. 2016 (1/2) – My personal winner for Best Adapted Screenplay was Arrival (though after having re-watched Moonlight recently, it definitely is one of the greatest winners of that category from this past decade).

    5. 2018 (1/2) – My personal winner for Best Original Screenplay was The Favourite (though Green Book was my runner-up).

    6. 2012 (1/2) – My personal winner for Best Adapted Screenplay was Lincoln.

    7. 2015 (1/2) – My personal winner for Best Adapted Screenplay was Brooklyn.

    8. 2011 (1/2) – My personal winner for Best Adapted Screenplay was Hugo.

    9. 2019 (0/2) – My personal winners were Marriage Story and Little Women.

    10. 2017 (0/2) – My personal winners were Lady Bird (though Three Billboards was a close second for me) and Mudbound.

So what’s your ranking? Even if there’s at least one year where you haven’t seen both screenplay winners, feel free to rank the ones you have actually seen.

    2010 1/2 I preferred Inception for original

2011 1/2 I would like to have seen either Bridesmaids or A Separation win original

2012 0/2 My personal favourites were Silver Linings and Zero Dark Thirty

    2013 2/2

2014 0/2 Whiplash and Boyhood (the best movie of the decade)

2015 0/2 The Martian and Inside Out

    2016 2/2

    2017 1/2 I preferred Molly’s Game to Call Me

2018 A pretty weak year – Can you ever forgive me and The Favourite should have won

2019 – 0/2 Can’t  really quibble with Parasite but I preferred Marriage Story. Didn’t  get Jojo at all. I would have chosen The Irishman. Both Irishman and Marriage Story are in my top ten of the decade. Incredibly underappreciated movies.

The only wins I really would’ve changed was Inception for OS in 2010 and The Favourite for OS in 2018. This decade had a lot of really great Screenplay winners.
