What’s with calling the two screenplays written by women “evil”?

First of all, I am a woman who is also a writer. I have a vested interest in seeing other women and non-men succeed in all forms of art (provided their work is not politically corrupt). Which brings us to Promising Young Woman and Nomadland, two pieces of morally bankrupt pablum. The former relishes is some faux-woke, easy rape-revenge stunts before tipping fully into one of the most disgusting bait-and-switches I’ve ever seen, and pats the cops on the back in the end lol. The latter casts a woman worth $30 million in a docudrama where she gets to play around in the mud with the other poors without buying them actual houses with her actual money, and doesn’t even have the common courtesy to drag Amazon to Hell and back. Also, Zhao is the daughter of a steel mogul lol; both her and her star could have done more good in the world in skipping the production of their little moovey and just give each of the houseless people a million dollars each.

You mean in the same year that they gave a win to the twee Nazis movie?

I will say, Borat would be the most challenging screenplay to write but, did it even have a screenplay???

Of course there was. The magic and skill is in making you wonder whether there was. Genius.

Amazing, all wealthy people in Hollywood should stop making movies and donate their money to causes (while remaining apolitical i bet). Why are you on this site? Why didn’t Hopkins donate millions to aged care?

Lol. I’m a communist; all art is political, that’s the point. McDormand’s extra-textual life can’t be ignored in a film that takes others’ real lives as literal text. She doesn’t get to do that. Dialectic materialism.

I don’t know why Hopkins didn’t do that. Do you? I wish he would. Wealth redistribution and all that.
