10: 2011 – Almost no one in this category worth taking (Viola Davis maybe?… nah. The movie dragged her down).
9: 2019 – Only Scarlett Johansson deserved to be nominated. This category hsd potential to be strong if the Academy can stopped being dull for a second.
8: 2015 – On pure performance, Charlotte Rampling was the best and the only worth taking in this category.
7: 2014 – The power of Marion Cotillard’s and Rosamund Pike performance were the only memorable things about this category.
6: 2016 – 1 excellent (Huppert), 3 Good and baity (Negga, Streep, Portman) and 1 standard (Stone).
5: 2018 – Yalitza Aparicio, Glenn Close, Olivia Colman and Lady Gaga were all great performances that would make a worthy winner.
4: 2017 – McDormand, Ronan, Robbie, Hawkins and Streep were all great and worthy of their nominations. In terms of being a worthy winner, there’s 4 choices here (except Streep).
3: 2010 – 3 Excellent (Portman, Williams, Kidman) 2 Great (Bening, Lawrence). It’s the power of those excellent performances that made this year on #3.
2: 2013 – Outside of Adams, there’s 4 Excellent performances from great actresses (Blanchett, Bullock, Dench, Streep). All 4 getting nominated for one of their best performance (you can make an exception on Streep, but it’s still and enjoyable performance)
1: 2012 – The powerful and excellent Emmanuelle Riva’s performance, the heartbreaking Naomi Watts, the brave Quvenzhane Wallis, the thrilling yet masterful Jessica Chastain, and even the weakest in the bunch (Lawrence) still deliver a funny and energetic performance, make this an easy pick. The 4 nominees here would make an excellent winner. Sadly the Academy prefer to go with the ‘Most Famous’ instead of The Best.
Ehh did i say from strongest to weakest? You can also ranking from weakest to strongest. Sorry XD
