Just going to pencil in Pacific Rim 2 for contention here lol. Those reviews I was reading were pretty bad.

I more read that it is mixed like the first film. It has 46% which I don’t think will be low enough to garner major Razzie attention. I loved the first Pacific Rim and I am sure that the second one will be great on its own right. Not awardsworthy by any stretch but still mostly entertaining junk food entertainment.

May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows.

Yeah know I am kinda impressed. The first third of the year is almost over and there has not really been that many Razzie choices outside of Fifty Shades Freed. This time last two years we had a lot of choices but we have relatively few this year.

May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows.

There’s also God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness, which only has a 20% rating so far.

I highly doubt it, for two reasons.

    1) God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness is actually the highest-rated of the three God’s Not Dead movies on RT. Neither of the other two films were nominated for Razzies, so…

    2) Certain genres of films that produce films that are almost always critical bombs, such as religious films or films based on video games, tend to be ignored by the Razzies unless they stand out as exceptionally awful. And even then they may still be ignored.

For example, Sam Worthington should’ve won Worst Actor this past ceremony for The Shack. I read the book it was based on in high school, and it’s easily one of the best books I’ve ever read. A true tear-jerker, especially if you’re a practicing Christian like myself. Worthington’s performance was so bad, that it ruined the film for me. He single-handedly turned what could’ve been one of the best films I had ever seen, into one of the worst. And yet, no Razzie nominations for that film.

Another example, regarding the based-on-a-video game genre. How was the 1993 adaptation of  Super Mario Bros. not nominated for at least Worst Picture, Worst Director (Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton), and Worst Screenplay?

46% to the Razzies is like 100% on RT. No chance PR:U gets any razzie mention.

mother! had 69% on RT yet it received multiple nominations at the Razzies. When a movie is too big and isn’t good enough, chances are they will attract Razzie voters and receive nominations.

Mother! was highly divisive. For every glowing review, there was a damning one, including an extremely rare F grade on CinemaScore, so it’s understandable.

There’s also Traffik, which looks like it wasn’t screened for critics.
