This being my first topic feels appropriate, but per the article put in the main Oscars thread, filming began for the movie on June 18th and will be lasting til the end of July. Lawrence will be starring as a soldier with brain damage, while Brian Tyree Henry costars. This will be acclaimed theater director Lila Neugebauer’s feature film debut and will probably be A24’s push this fall. Homegirl is coming for that 5th nom in January. Now…

I am so ready for Lawrence to go into this awards race vs Erivo, Ronan, Jones, Portman, Zellweger, Theron, etc…

Brian Tyree Henry is the interesting one here. Hope he gets more attention.

I don’t think this is going to be ready in time for a 2019 release and even if it is, it wouldn’t be a smart idea to release it.. A24 already has The Lighthouse, Uncut Gems, Waves and Zola coming out, not to mention The Farewell and Last Black Man as viable awards contenders along with Midsommar depending on box office…

Very excited for this though! They have a great 2020 slate.. this would fit real nice with Macbeth, Green Knight, After Yang and Bodies, Bodies, Bodies!

Hopefully this gets a similar awards reception as Winter’s Bone with Picture, Actress, Supporting Actor and Screenplay, since Henry should’ve already gotten in for Widows and we already know how I feel about the mother! snub.

Where are you getting this (awful) title from? It seems that all websites have reported this film as being untitled, which I hope, for the film’s sake, is true.

Hope it does well and gets jlaw the nom. Winslet needs to be written off the history books as the youngest person to get 5 acting noms.

Eh, they can get post-production done quickly, and I feel like it would be a good time because those films either don’t really have awards friendly release dates (The Farewell, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Uncut Gems) or awards friendly plots/genres (Midsommar, The Lighthouse). Macbeth would probably their main push in 2020 with Denzel/McDormand anyways.

It was the name of the screenplay written by the writer, and I’ve seen a couple of sites run with the title (albeit they still keep it officially as untitled). But I’m sure they’re going to change it lol.

Pretty sure Jlaw and her team would want her film out this year. If she waits until next year, she’d have to campaign this and Bad Blood and we know how that worked out for Amy Adams in 2016 and Amy had 5 noms at that point and I doubt she wants to be the next person of the Amy Adam victims list.

Granted it’s not up to her when the movie is out lol but she could focus on 1 campaign at a time lol.

As much as I love Lawrence and miss her being on the awards circuit, I was really into A24’s actress push being primarily Awkwafina, with Pugh as their second priority. But we shall see
