REDONE: 10 Ways the Oscars Could Be Improved (Or, how I’d personally like to see them)

    1. Cut the red carpet pre-show to 30 minutes and move it and the start of the main telecast up an hour.

    2. Add these categories in the next decade:

    – Best Motion Capture or Voice Over Performance
    – Best Stunt Coordination

    – Best Casting
    or
    – Best Screen Ensemble

    3. Present the awards in this order next year:

    – Best Supporting Actress
    – Best Documentary Short Subject
    – Best Makeup and Hairstyling
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Production Design
    – Best Live Action Short Film
    – Best Animated Short Film
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Cinematography
    – Best Film Editing
    – Best Supporting Actor
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Costume Design
    – Best Sound Mixing
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Original Score
    – Best Visual Effects
    – Best Original Song
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Sound Editing
    – Best Adapted Screenplay
    – Best Foreign Language Film
    – Best Original Screenplay
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Documentary Feature
    – Best Director
    – Best Animated Feature
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Actor
    – Best Actress
    (COMMERCIALS)
    – Best Picture

    4. Don’t cut categories for commercials… cut host fluff for commercials!

    5. Keep the Best Picture nominees at a set amount (I’d prefer 10), but continue to use the preferential ballot to vote for the winner.

    6. Keep the host monologue at a 10 minute limit- tops.

    7. If someone cannot perform their nominated song, do not perform any of the original songs.

    8. Avoid long term extensions with networks to televise the show- 5 year extensions before each renewal or move to another broadcast/streaming partner- tops.

    9. Do more behind the scenes segments in the technical categories for each nominee.

    10. Move the show to a permanent weekend slot (First Sunday in March, preferably).

    WELCOME TO UNPREDICTABILITY.

Reposting here because it’s easier to see, my other post is stuck in mod limbo (and to continue the discussion from the last thread).

Mad Max: Fury Road would have made a great stunt winner.

They should just leave the best picture at 10 and stop having around 8 or 9 even when there are too many good films to choose from. Last year was a mess….. I,  Tonya, the Florida Project, Mudbound and Blade Runner 2049 were all left out with only nine passable movies nominated.

    FYC
    Best Actor :.
    Taron Egerton = Rocketman
    Joaquin Phoenix = Joker
Eddie Murphy = Dolemite is my Name

    Best actress :
    Charlize Theron = Bombshell
    Alfre Woodard = Clemency

    Supporting Actor
Brad Pitt = Once upon a time in Hollywood

    Supporting Actress =
Margot Robbie = Any of her two performances.
Dame Maggie Smith = Downton Abbey
    Octavia Spencer = Luce
