It’s way easier for men. I watched All 8 episodes of Bridgerton today because Rege Jean Page got 3 movies recently and I didn’t know who he was. He was OK in Bridgerton but he is nominated for this Emmy. Sorry, but I wasn’t impressed. So, I thought It’s easy for men. You could get 3 movies like Rege Jean Page

He’s a terrible actor but somehow his good looks are getting it all these roles, the girl that played Daphne is a much better actress.

Forbes just done a piece on exactly this.
In a nutshell, Hollywood spent too long putting pretty boys in charisma-less action roles that inevitably flop, where that’s only paid off twice (Hugh Jackman & Channing Tatum), whilst ignoring the fact that IP/franchises and characters are now the movie stars.

Eh that article is pretty bad, IMO. Ponder this:
Charlie Hunnam can bomb in King Arthur and the Legend of the Sword ($148 million on a $175 million budget) and still be considered a “name.” Will John Boyega ever get another big franchise title after nobody showed up (except in China, natch) for Pacific Rim: Uprising ($290/$150 million)?
This is a terrible example. Boyega’s disruptive, unprofessional behavior, including walking off some smaller movies that remained un-reported and under-reported, was whispered about for years. Until walking off a Netflix movie because he didn’t like the accomodation gained publicity. So if he never got another franchise (not that he’s a draw anyway) it would be 100% his fault for acting like a diva and leaving numerous people out of work. Unless Hunnam is just as bad, there’s no reason to lament that one is considered a name and the other a meme since it’s of his own doing.
That said, I have no doubt that The Saint will flop. With the exception of Cobra Kai show, which had passionate fandom since the original Karate Kid that remained to this day, Charlie’s Angels-type of nostaliga doesn’t work cause fandom is negligible and new generations have their own franchises. I’m actually surprised that RJP is snagged for this instead of some sure-fire hit (Marvel, Bond, Superman, etc). He’s already signed up for Dungeons and Dragons that doesn’t sound promising (first attempt at adapoting it flopped) so he better be careful or he’ll end up like Gerard Buttler or Nikolaj Coster-Valdau.

Is that true? I know about the Netflix thing but are there receipts for others?

Wasn’t his show & character super popular?

Pure Hype and nothing more. Personally, I think Bridgerton is mediocre
ReplyCopy URLJuly 31, 2021 at 7:56 pm #1204374507I’m quite shocked knowing him is at odds to play James Bond. Not that every James Bond actor is a thespian anyway but being considered as Bond after his very first big role is a bit of stretch.

Yeah, you’re right, and I love the books

My favorite would be George MacKay, but now that you say it, Goulding would be kind of perfect.

Can you DM me too? I got harassed by his stans on twitter (even though I AM Boyega’s fan) for saying the crews’ jobs are at stake whether this is his fault or not
