Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange, Maggie Smith, Helen Hayes, Ingrid Bergman.

That is almost like a list of the greatest actresses ever.

Who are the men with double wins. Without looking it up I’m saying Jack Lemmon, Jack Nicholson, Denzel, and Gene Hackman. Also a great group.

Guess it shows they can all play leads and then a character part too.

    She didn’t deserve either sweep.

Everyone felt bad for not rewarding her for Chicago, so they closed their eyes and voted for her for that sham movie Cold Mountain. They figured, eh… we will make it up to her and be done with it. Truth is, they didn’t need to because her loss for Chicago was deserved too. But I digress.

Her win for Judy wasn’t for her- it was for Judy Garland. Kristen Stewart would’ve won playing the same part.

All the people you mentioned actually deserve their awards. She isn’t in that company. She’s now a poor man’s Hillary Swank.

I thought she did pretty well in Chicago considering she had never sung or danced before. I see you are not a fan though to put it mildly!

I would’ve liked to see Scarlett win for Marriage Story but I’m not hung up over anything. I think this was a great season despite being mostly very predictable.

I haven’t seen Judy but her win is one of the laziest choices that the Academy has made in this category.Frances McDormand was clearly beloved by the industry and voters wanted to honor her. Even though Renee was playing Judy Garland and was having a comeback, nobody really seemed to be that pleased with her winning award after award but honored her anyway. I guess that speaks to how weak her competition was this year in terms of their competitiveness.

I’ve seen this take on here more than once and it’s ridiculous. If no one seemed pleased with her winning, she wouldn’t have swept every single televised award show. If her peers disliked her, she wouldn’t have won SAG. If Hollywood big wigs didn’t like her, she wouldn’t have won Oscar. Is it so difficult to believe that *gasp* people thought her performance was the best of the year? Damn, the length some will juggle in order to bring someone down is amazing. And on top of all that, you haven’t even seen the performance.

Zellweger’s win will not age tell. The film is already largely dismissed by many and it is little better than a 3rd rate TV film though Zellweger is fine in it she was hardly award worthy. The TV film made about 15 years ago starring Judy Davis as Judy Garland was a superior film and performance.

Renee Zellweger is one of the most awarded actresses this century.

She is one of two people who have swept all of Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, SAG, BAFTA and the Oscar with a single performance, TWICE.

The other is Daniel Day Lewis who swept with There Will Be Blood and Lincoln.

I’m stumped. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily deserving, but I am happy for her nonetheless.

Happy for her but I wouldn’t have given her the win for Cold Mountain. Agdashloo or Hunter would’ve been my pick. Her second win is more deserving. She might not be my personal winner but she’s definitely worthy of a win.

If no one was pleased with her winning, she wouldn’t have received standing ovations at SAG and the Oscars. She deserved the win.

Renee was perfect in Chicago and should have won for Chicago too and this year.

And she deserved it this year too.

That 15 year old film has nothing to do with Judy THIS year though.
