Between this and United States vs. Billie Holiday, which one do you think is better?

Shout Out to Marlon Wayans. Who would have thought he’d be good at drama? Was pleasantly surprised by his performance.

Wayans was phenomenal in Requiem for a Dream. He should do more dramatic roles.

How was Audra McDonald? (I keep hoping she’ll get some big screen roles worthy of her talent.) It sounds as though some of the supporting actors might not have been optimally utilized.

So I had to look her up because I don’t know her, but she’s the actress playing Aretha’s mother and she’s also barely in it.

As an FYI, she’s won six Tony awards— the only person to win in both lead and supporting in both drama and musicals. She’s currently on TV  on The Good Fight with Christine Baranski. If she’s barely in it, she’s seriously underutilized.  (I’ve seen her on stage a number of times. She was mesmerizing as Bess in Porgy and Bess, and as Billie Holiday— there are some great clips on You Tube.)

McDonald’s been Emmy worthy in each season of The Good Fight. I hope she gets her due someday!

She won an Emmy for her performance in  Sweeney Todd Live from Lincoln Center and also has a Grammy. She’s “only” an Oscar short of an EGOT.

One day Audra McDonald will definitely win that Oscar. It’s sad to think that the woman who played Billie Holliday so impeccably is now deemed too old to play people like Billie/Aretha in biopics because whenever she does—she’ll be fantastic!

Justice for Passing, Tessa Thompson & Ruth Negga.

The Power of the Dog / Jane Campion / Benedict Cumberbatch / Kristen Stewart / Kirsten Dunst / Troy Kotsur

Maybe take a minute then to Google “Broadway Legend Audra McDonald.” You’re welcome.
