The CGI and blue eyes killed it for him also he didn’t play against type. He can still get nominated at the Oscars.

I thought he did great, but I suppose it wasn’t very showy or even “memorable” considering everything else in the film. I agree with everyone who said he shined in the final act, and that the special effects made things a bit weird.

There are better performances in the lead actor field. Plus, he’s upstaged by almost every other actor in his own film. I would endorse a supporting nod for JOKER before a lead nod in THE IRISHMAN.

I am not too concerned about Robert De Niro’s chances at the Oscars. We routinely see these big films struggle along the way, but they end up maxing out in Oscar nominations (The Favourite, The Shape of Water, Spotlight, The Revenant, even Roma).

The SAG’s wouldn’t just snub a person just because they’re giving them a lifetime achievement award. They don’t work that way. That just sounds like a desperate excuse.

Not sure about the Globes, but maybe he shouldn’t have appeared so grouchy and refuse to take audience questions at Irishman SAG screenings. Whoops!

If he refused to do promotion or interviews for Golden Globes or SAG, that might make sense.

    Joe Pesci isn’t internalized?

That’s what’s so great about Joe. It was such a different performance. I’m not saying RDN was bad (he was great) but Joe had a lot more work cut out for him. Robert De Niro played these characters before.

Oscars 2020: I stan Joaquin Phoenix, Willem Dafoe, Alan Silvestri, and Dean Deblois.

Emmys 2020: I stan Logan Lerman, Olivia Colman, and David Harbour.

Tom Hanks and Amy Adams stan in general.

Still got him in my predictions because he’s in a movie that’ll probably get nominated a lot.

But man, his performance was underwhelming. I hope he gets snubbed all the way.

I just love movies. And awards.

He might still get in considering how much money Netflix is spending.

After spending 3 and a half hours watching this film. I can say he doesn’t deserve a nod. Actor category is stacked and everyone in the Irishman out performed RD!

He gave a perfectly fine performance in The Irishman but he is not Oscar worthy…and neither is Leonardo DiCaprio in OUTIH

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.
