Looks like RDJ will be pushed for an Oscar, but for supporting actor instead of lead. Currently on this site, 120 people have him getting a nom for lead actor. Now that he is switching to supporting, do you think this will help his chances?

Honestly, I think he could sneak in the 5th slot. Not probable, but there is a chance. The supporting actor category seems a bit weaker compared to lead.

Also how does this work for this site? Will RDJ be removed off the lead actor list and switched to supporting?

I suppose he has some pluses on his side.
They know him. past Oscar nominee.
    Box office.
    It’s Disney. They’re mobsters.
    Passion pick.

I think they’ll push him in the category he has the best chance to be nominated. Not sure it matters.

Personally I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

This’ll help him, but I still don’t see him getting in. Also, RDJ is a lead. It’s an ensemble film, but he and Chris Evans clearly get the most focus.

It would literally be one of the most (if not THE most) undeserved nomination if he got in.

If he gets in at some precursors I would take the rest of the year off because these threads would become unbearable.

I felt he gave a flat performance. I think i even caught him acting. I wouldn’t give him a nomination but I can understand why others would want to. It takes me to this weird place in my head contemplating it.

He still is not happening. All these Marvel performances are so overrated. He did nothing. All this buzz for what? His emotional death scene? Please..

Off topic but it would be hilarious if he not nominated in lead only to lose another Joker performance.

He’s not happening. That having been said, if he gets nominated… especially over a certain supporting actor… I will puke.

He doesn’t even deliver that major final line he has well. The line Marvel has been building up to since 2008. The end of an era. That line. He couldn’t even deliver it with emotion. Or humor. Or any sort of life.

If Marvel wants to shoehorn in Oscar nominations – I’d rather Chris Hemsworth’s comedic chops and re-examining of his colonial authority in Thor Ragnarok* or Michael B. Jordan for Killmonger because that final monologue he had about slaves jumping from ships is the best-acted scene in Marvel.

*Thor Ragnarok is a better comedic movie about questioning unjust authority and corrupt regimes from a naive perspective than Jojo Rabbit.

Was this really worth a seperate thread? It’s not like he’ll get any important nom.

Once Upon a Time I might have predicted RDJ, but this category is way too stacked for him to get in. And Avengers Endgame doesn’t even fell like it will be nominated for most of the technical categories anymore, so I doubt it somehow gets into this category. Plus, RDJ publically stating that he doesn’t care about the Oscar’s and won’t campaign pretty much killed any slim chance he ever had at being nominated.

    For Your Consideration.

This did NOT need a separate thread. It doesn’t matter if Endgame was released in April or October, RDJ WAS NEVER GETTING NOMINATED

1). I don’t think this subject was worthy of its own thread.
2). As much as I would love to see him get an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor, I just don’t see it happening.
