I think it’s a smart idea to put RDJ here in Supporting, Lead Actor is already full of contenders, here he can easily take out anyone.

Why are they even bothering with this? No actor has ever been nominated for a Marvel film before. What makes them think it will happen now? Especially when it’s already a three-way race between Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, and Brad Pitt. If Black Panther couldn’t even get an acting nomination, what makes them think Downey can get one? He’s only in his mid-50s. He has plenty of time to get more Oscar nominations.

Nope can’t see it happening, avengers will only get noms where it deserves noms in the technical awards and not in things like best picture, director,or any acting category, it would be laughable if it achieved any such nomination

Was this really worth a seperate thread? It’s not like he’ll get any important nom.

This did NOT need a separate thread. It doesn’t matter if Endgame was released in April or October, RDJ WAS NEVER GETTING NOMINATED

1). I don’t think this subject was worthy of its own thread. 2). As much as I would love to see him get an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor, I just don’t see it happening.

Well my main point of this thread was to ask how Goldderby will handle the switch from lead to supporting. Will he be taken out of lead and added to supporting? I don’t use this site that often so that’s what I mainly wanted to know. But out of 23 replies apparently everyone missed that question and decided to complain instead

So uh the whole world basically? I get the film isn’t high art or anything but don’t even tell me for one second Avatar deserved noms for best picture or best director. This surpassed Avatar at the box office, and I think it is possible this film will be rewarded in a couple categories outside of technical nominations.

RDJ had many great scenes, such as his argument with Cap, his death scene, and his other scenes where he just emphasized pure despair. I don’t get why everyone freaks out about RDJ getting one supporting nom for the highest grossing film of all time when someone like Sam Elliot can get a supporting nom for A Star is Born… For what? Yelling at Bradley Cooper? lmao

First off: box office means nothing, just because it’s the highest grossing film of all time, doesn’t mean it deserves to be nominated. Like, the film will get visual effects, MAYBE one or two more, but that’s probably it. Supporting actor is stacked and if RDJ isn’t campaigning, he definitely isn’t going to get nominated. Also, not even the best performance in Endgame from what I can remember of it. As well, as people have mentioned, if Black Panther, the only Marvel film to get a BP nomination, can’t get an actor nod, Endgame, without a BP nod (which it definitely won’t get), definitely won’t get one.

I think the biggest issue with the audiences for these movies is that a lot of the time, they confuse a character that they like and writing with good acting. Just because the character of Tony Stark had an interesting arc (to some) that carried the genesis and ending (but not really ending) of a franchise does NOT mean that the actor who portrayed him deserves awards. Tony Stark wasn’t compelling because of RDJ. Tony Stark was compelling because of how he was written. I may be in the minority, but I think that fifty different actors could have played Iron Man. RDJ ain’t doing anything special here, and I think that virtually every awards body under the sun will recognize that.

Do I think he will get nominated? Nope.
Do I badly wish he gets nominated though? Hell yes.

    Haters keep on hating.

I just love movies. And awards.
