This is always one of the toughest categories to predict, and this year is no different. Plenty of excellent candidates, but right now my prediction is:
1. Manchester By The Sea
2. La La Land
3. Fences
4. Loving
5. Hidden Figures
—————————–
6. Moonlight
7. Silence
8. 20th Century Women
9. Jackie
10. Hell or High Water
What are your thoughts?
November 24, 2016 at 5:51 pm #1201956490Of your top 5, my only real concern is Loving, as I don’t think it has a strong “cast/ensemble” vibe to it. The individual performances are really good, but the interactions between the characters are severly lacking.
I have my eye on Collateral Beauty because it has a really strong cast and the preview would indicate that the cast builds off of one another well.

1. Moonlight
2. Hidden Figures
3. Fences
4. La La Land
5. Manchester By the Sea

6. Rules Don’t Apply (don’t forget Bobby was nominated)
7. Hell or High Water
8. Jackie
9. Patriots Day
10. SilenceFor the finest in film reviews and awards analysis, please visit me at The Awards Connection!

Moonlight
2. La La Land
3. Hidden Figures
4. Manchester by the SeaI keep going back and forth for the last slot between 20th Century Women and Fences. I have the former right now, but not predicting Fences seems stupid.

La La Land
Manchester by the Sea
Moonlight
SullyNovember 25, 2016 at 1:04 am #1201956588Loving, Fences , La La Land & Silence did not send out screeners for voters, so I’m not gonna predict them for an ensemble nod. Although I think La La Land could get in without screeners.
Hell Or High Water
Hidden Figures
Manchester By The Sea
MoonlightFifth spot is either : La La Land / Eye In The Sky / Rules Don’t Apply / 20th Century Women
ReplyCopy URLNovember 25, 2016 at 1:09 am #1201956590Do not count out Fences. Three weeks ago, the SAG nominating committee was at a screening, along with journalists and select OScar voters, and the audience applauded three times during the movie and the theater erupted into thunderous applause afterwards. There is no way in hell, Fences, is going to be left off the list of ensemble nominees. Not with Oscarssowhite still hovering in the air out in Hollywood.

They have Moonlight & Hidden Figures to fill that void. I’d Paramount doesn’t get screeners out before next week, Fences will get left out despite the household names as leads. I think Viola & Denzel gets individual nods though.

ReplyCopy URLNovember 25, 2016 at 4:39 am #1201956628I don’t care how many screeners some of these movies send out to voter’s during the voting period, some of them don’t stand a chance to be nominated.
1. Fences

2. Moonlight
3. Manchester By The Sea
4. La La Land
5. SullyNovember 25, 2016 at 5:12 am #1201956640Sully has no chance. That’s purely a Tom Hanks show with a hint of Aaron Eckhart.

1. Fences
2. Moonlight
3. Manchester By The Sea
4. La La Land
5. SullyThere were key snubs in the past due to to NO screeners getting sent out. Fences’ actors could easily get in, but predicting a win in Ensemble (with no screeners out) just because you’re Viola’s biggest stan is doing the most.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 25, 2016 at 8:04 am #1201956679Fences is like Doubt. The acting is what stands out the most and it’ll get a lot of votes but Moonlight has overwhelming praise like Slumdog Millionaire did.
