SAG chooses more crowd pleasing and diverse nominees than what you’re all predicting. The Farewell, Parasite, Downton abbey, and Hustlers have better chances than what you’re predicting.

I’m actually surprised more screeners haven’t been received at this point given nomination voting begins in less than a week…

I think Downton Abbey is being underestimated. Especially Maggie Smith. Don’t forget that not only SAG, but BAFTA, Critics Choice and Globes as well are already familiar with the series, the story and the characters. The TV side voters at SAG could give the nod to Smith and who knows maybe even ensemble. If Smith gets both SAG and BAFTA, she gets in at Oscars. And she’s Maggie Smith, that’ll help her ofc in the barren field of supporting actress. And this is coming from someone who’s never seen or cared for Downton Abbey.

    Completely agree.

FYC Golden Globes- Fleabag, The Crown, Olivia Colman, Jennifer Aniston

FYC Oscars- Maggie Smith, Charlize Theron, Brad Pitt, Adam Driver

FYC Emmys- Schitts Creek, The Crown, Years and Years

I agree mostly but I don’t think she’s getting at BAFTA so she’ll miss the Oscars. SAG and Globes seem like simple bets in an unstable category though.

Because BAFTA never cared for the show when it was on (Smith was nominated for season 2 and that was it for her) and frankly I think because of that the whole franchise doesn’t have the same prestige in the UK as it does in the US after so many Emmy nominations. Also, I think the Downton movie is quite comparable to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a big blockbuster for the older generation but without the perceived acclaim of other pictures. The latter film got SAG nominations for the ensemble and Smith and nearly got Smith an Oscar nom but didn’t due to stumbling with only a British Film nod at BAFTA – I see the same happening here.

    Hope I’m wrong though!

Going insanely bold with my predictions just because I can. Don’t ask me to explain these because I won’t be able to. SAG can sometimes go so wack with their nominations that I’m just trying to predict as many surprises as possible.
