I don’t know if I should laugh or take this seriously.
I don’t know if I asked for your opinion. 🤷🏾♂️

Nobody asked for yours either. So there’s that.

But you responded to mine. I wasn’t checking for yours. So that’s that.

If you post something in a movie thread, you should expect people to respond. That’s how it works.February 9, 2021 at 2:10 pm #1204033635Carey sweeping wouldn’t be the least bit surprising. Hollywood tends to reward certain actresses (Emma Stone, J.Law, Vikander) for doing the bare minimum. I really liked Mulligan’s performance but…let’s keep it real. Viola literally gained weight, wore a body suit, stepped outside of her comfort zone, and transformed completely into her role. Yet for some reason that isn’t seen as “worthy” compared to others.
Not someone comparing Mulligan to the likes of JLaw and Stone…
As for Vikander, she couldn’t have shown more variety in her 2 acclaimed performances that year. She won for the more Academy friendly one, although I think she should have been nominated in lead over overrated JLaw and won the Oscar anyway for Ex Machina istead. I don’t get why her win is always dragged when she was great in the movie…the category fraud is up to the voters to correct…
As for Viola you said she transformed by gaining weight and wearing a fatsuit…doesn’t one kinda negate the other? She didn’t even sing. People are really exaggerating her transformation… let’s be real.

March 3, 2021 at 12:11 pm #1204080454So it’s basically a highlights show

61st Place BAFTA nominations 2021March 3, 2021 at 12:18 pm #1204080481To be fair this was really great though.
It’s partly why Merritt Wever should win all the awards she’s eligible for (that and the fact she’s actually a great actor lol).

61st Place BAFTA nominations 2021March 3, 2021 at 12:22 pm #1204080495What was the point of changing the date? I doubt this memo will attract viewers. It is also sad there is no life achievement honoree. I thought the Golden Globes still did a nice job of honoring Jane and Norman.
March 3, 2021 at 1:11 pm #1204080581I’m so exhausted by this season and can’t imagine sitting through another show like Sunday’s mess, so I’m fine with this. Yeah it stinks and it’s not as fun as the usual ceremony (my favorite of the year) but this is the reality of the moment. Winners may leak and you lose the sporadic nature of a live show, but the Globes was way too messy to avoid repeating what they did and hoping for better results. Let’s not pretend this is going to be the new normal going forward, it is just a one-off event that meets the moment. I’m sure some will have an overblown dramatic reaction to this news, but for all the discussions being had on these forums and on Twitter about how to keep awards shows fresh this year and beyond, this is at least something new and different.
