Is insane to keep predicting Da 5 Bloods for Ensemble? Should I change it for Mank? Is there any hope for Minari?

I came here to ask the same thing, if you guys felt more safe predicting Da 5 Bloods or Mank.

After today i’m not sold on D5B, but it’s Netflix, has a strong cast, Spike Lee film, socially important, and SAG loves POC casts, so I don’t know.

Also, are you guys 100% sure on Judas not getting anything because of the late release? I know SAG always avoids them.

Remember that SAG were the only ones who nominated Just Mercy despite it’s incredibly late release date. At least for Supporting Actor I don’t think the release date really matters. For ensemble and Actor it probably does though.

I would like to remind everyone that usually there’s one or two big snubs in ensemble.

There’s always at least one Ensemble film that gets no other noms at SAG. No other film fits that criteria this year, so I that’ll be Da Five Bloods this.

I feel very confident in my SAG predictions but I will say that if one of Oldman or Rahim get in at SAG they are getting in at the Oscars too.

"SPENCER" – In all categories especially Director (Pablo Larrain) and Actress (Kristen Stewart)
"SHIVA BABY" – in all categories especially Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Score

There have been quite a few years when that hasn’t been the case.

There is however one year where one film gets three nominations + ensemble (like Bombshell last year). I expect that will be one One Night in Miami or Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom this year.

Oscars FYC:
"THE POWER OF THE DOG" – IN ALL CATEGORIES
"SPENCER" – In all categories especially Director (Pablo Larrain) and Actress (Kristen Stewart)
"SHIVA BABY" – in all categories especially Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Score

Not recently. 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 all had one. 2015 and 2018 actually had two.

SAG doesn’t always love POC casts; for instance, the cast of If Beale Street Could Talk missed out (along with Regina King) because it wasn’t an especially popular movie with the industry. Da 5 Bloods in some ways seems more divisive, although I’m holding on to Delroy Lindo in Best Actor.

IBSCT was also very late if i remember correctly, if it had been more seen Regina would have been 100% nominated.

2017 had none (if you’re thinking of The Big Sick, Holly Hunter was nominated there)

That was what I was thinking of.
