I have a sinking feeling it’s likely that The Power of the Dog misses Ensemble but still gets all its actors in a la The Favourite and Marriage Story. Also, are we really so sure on King Richard in Ensemble? I’m honestly feeling unsure on that one as well…

I have huge doubts as well since it’s not really an ensemble movie, but Joe here has been telling us it has a lot of passion.

Also don’t go too heavy on WSS since those screeners were very late and only digital. I think Ensemble and DeBose should still make it.

    Where I’m standing right now…

    Best Ensemble
    Belfast
    CODA
    Don’t Look Up
    King Richard
    West Side Story

    Best Actor
Benedict Cumberbatch, The Power of the Dog
    Leonardo DiCaprio, Don’t Look Up
    Peter Dinklage, Cyrano
    Andrew Garfield, Tick Tick Boom
    Will Smith, King Richard
(I’m not super convinced Macbeth will be up SAG’s alley.)

    Best Actress
Jessica Chastain, The Eyes of Tammy Faye
    Olivia Colman, The Lost Daughter
    Lady Gaga, House of Gucci
    Kristen Stewart, Spencer
    Rachel Zegler, West Side Story
(It feels so wrong to have Kidman missing, and I’m sure I’m going to regret it, but I want to predict a surprise here. I would have dropped Chastain instead, but I’m trusting Joe’s info that they liked Tammy Faye.)

    Best Supporting Actor
    Ben Affleck, The Tender Bar
    Jamie Dornan, Belfast
    Ciarán Hinds, Belfast
    Troy Kotsur, CODA
Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Power of the Dog

    Best Supporting Actress
    Caitríona Balfe, Belfast
    Ariana DeBose, West Side Story
Kirsten Dunst, The Power of the Dog
    Aunjanue Ellis, King Richard
    Rita Moreno, West Side Story
(This is the easiest category to predict for me. Weirdly enough, I feel Dunst is the most vulnerable just for how SAG can be sometimes, but no one else really feels right in her slot. SAG also feels like the organization most likely to buy into the Moreno narrative.)

FYC: PHYSICAL (Rose Byrne) THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS (Amrit Kaur, Renee Rapp) YELLOWJACKETS (Samantha Hanratty, Christina Ricci) THE OTHER TWO (Drew Tarver, Helene Yorke) THE GREAT (Elle Fanning) BETTER THINGS (Pamela Adlon)

Disappointed with no Jared in any of the ballots shared. I thought he was sure to get a nomination, because I believed actors would love his performance.

I’m hoping SAG members will rally behind Tessa and Ruth and hopefully we will see both of their names here. I don’t like how Negga is being singled out primarily. It’s a duo two hander here with these two ladies. They both need to get it. It’s like choosing to nominate Kodi, but not Benedict. Passing doesn’t work with just Negga’s performance.

The way Tessa & Ruth have been overlooked this season feels downright disrespectful. They give two of the year’s greatest performances. Hopefully both get in. I’m also rooting for the cast of Mass.

#5 – Faist, West Side Story
    ALT: Bernthal, King Richard

    BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
#1 – DeBose, West Side Story
    #2 – Ellis, King Richard
    #3 – Balfe, Belfast
#4 – Moreno, West Side Story
    #5 – Negga, Passing

    #2 – Dune
    #3 – Black Widow
#4 – Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
    #5 – Nobody

    * Simon Rex is an interesting case that might touch SAG – a “lesser” actor who was offered a nice role that he elevated. It’s a great performance and this “from 0 to hero” vibe might be inspiring for the SAG community. Plus, this guy has been campaigning his ass off!

How crazy one can be to leave Gaga out? She’s surely in the top #3, maybe top #2 when it comes to SAG.

This spill! Two of the best performances of the year for sure.

My thoughts: Stewart is the frontrunner and she’s very very good; Colman is as respected as she is brilliant, so she won’t miss; SAG loves Kidman (this woman holds 9 individual noms + all the ensemble ones); Haim benefits from being the cool new kid in town and she’s great in her acting debut in a movie by a huge auteur; and I think Zegler will coattail with my predicted WWS love. Gaga also makes a lot of sense (showy performance in audience-friendly movie), but the thing is… someone will be left out! Still, I totally support a Gaga nod!

Dunst missing with TPOTD making into ensemble, would be weird.

I have huge doubts as well since it’s not really an ensemble movie, but Joe here has been telling us it has a lot of passion.

It is typically the type my peers would gravitate to and I can’t see it missing because there is love for the film and its diverse ensemble but they have pulled off some weird snubs so who knows. I was convinced myself that Mank, the Favourite and Shape of water would get nominated but they didn’t.
