Glenn was great in the Hillbilly Elegy, but Youn was sublime in Minari.

    Yep!

    it’s just a family movie.

You can trivialise anything by putting ‘just’ in front of it.

They took a huge tumble even with the shorter show. For comparison purpose (viewers in the 18-49 range):

    On TNT:

    2020: 1.187.000 viewers

    2021: 452.000 viewers

    On TBS:

    2020: 824.000 viewers

    2021: 505.000 viewers

Imagine hating an actor that much. Real psychological help needed.

It’s literally an R-rated Disney family movie having removed the book’s politics.

Wait you were talking about Hillbilly Elegy? I thought you were talking about Minari lol.

Not really. It has barely crossed my mind. I was one of the few to say she would win. I had faith in her.

Pandemic situation aside, these stats are shocking. I’m not hopeful for BAFTA to improve either; most people I’ve spoken to in UK haven’t seen/heard of any of the contenders apart from those on Netflix due to the cinema situation. We might have to accept the general population have lost interest in awards this season, perhaps the situation has brought perspective how irrelevant and political they are in the grand scheme of things.

No one has seen these movies, the season has been extended and yes, people don’t care this year. I think they’ll slowly rebound as things get back to semi-normal.

General public are tired of awards season. They’ve been seeing a trend for quite sometime that it’s about politics and making statements than the actual WORK and the movies.

A time will come where none of these will be aired anymore because all the cable stations will cancel them for not generating views.
