So who’s getting snubbed in Best Actress? Judging from the stats above, we have had at least one actress every year that is nominated at SAG that does not get an Oscar nomination.

If the consensus 5 of McDormand, Streep, Hawkins, Ronan and Robbie all get a SAG nomination, one of them aint invited to the Oscar party. For someone else.

Hawkins. These drones refuse to give up Streep for even a season.

The only locks are McDormand and Streep. I’m now pulling hard for Vicky Krieps.

Who would Krispy even be nominated over?

Like I said, only two locks. I think it’s very possible that not one, but two of the other three (Robbie, Ronan, Hawkins) end up missing.

And can we please at least here use Krieps’ real name? I mean, VICKY already sounds like a nickname lol

Or…. one of the consensus 5 gets snubbed at SAG, and eventually gets an Oscar nomination in the end.

The stat above proves it. There is always a WTF nomination, that we did not see coming.

Emma Stone for Battle of the Sexes?
    Annette Bening for Film Stars….?

And the person snubbed….i’m leaning towards Sally Hawkins. I believe she is getting an Oscar nomination….but something tells me the SAG nominating committee will go with mainstream recognisable stars.

I could see SAG snubbing Sally Hawkins. We have been getting mixed messages about The Shape of Water lately and it seems like the kind of film that will under-perform. SAG has never nominated her before anyway, not for her Globe/Satellite/NYFCC/LAFCA-winning performance in Happy-Go-Lucky or for her Oscar/Globe/Satellite/Spirit/BAFTA/AACTA/NSFC-nominated performance in Blue Jasmine. Slot in Emma Stone. People like her.

Add in the vote splitting with early release/ early screener Maudie which as a performance fits better with SAG sensibilities, I’ve had Hawkins out for a while. Dench is next in line though. Stone/Chastain get to fight for the next spot if The Post screeners are too late.

But isn’t TSoW an ensemble contender? Wouldn’t it be weird for Sally to miss and one or two supporting players to get in when she’s the most praised in the cast? Or will the movie be the typical lone nominee that doesn’t get any acting nods? Or maybe it misses out in ensemble? Or  perhaps it’s the rare year that Oscar and SAG align perfectly?

I agree. I don’t think that Hawkins will miss. However, The Post, TBOEM, TSOW, Lady Bird and I, Tonya all seem like likely ensemble nominees. I think whichever one misses ensemble misses actress… So maybe Robbie?

Yep. My thoughts exactly. I find it hard to believe the consensus 5 just all get SAG, BAFTA and Oscar nominations. The category has never lined-up perfectly from Sag to Oscars. Why would it now?

I can see Jake Gyllenhaal, James Franco, Judi Dench, and Mary J. Blige getting SAG nominations without going on to get Oscar nominations. And they’re bound to throw one or two wackier surprises in there that probably won’t go any further as well.

I’d give anything up for Stone to get SAG nom (with that and GG nom, she has better chance at the Oscars) but NOT at Hawkin’s expense.

And I would usually argue that there would be at least one POC nominee but there seems to be none in BActress category.

If Hawkins misses SAG she can’t win Oscar. Do people think McDormand is going to run away with the Oscar that easily?

Would be a shame for Stone to ruin the lineup.
