What are your predictions or suprises you see happening tomorrow night. I predict Bale wins supporting actor and kicks off an Oscar winning campaign while Big Short wins best ensembleJanuary 29, 2016 at 6:29 pm #213747
According to the combined odds from the predictions center, I am predicting upsets in three of the six categories. Going by the odds from only users’ predictions, I am calling upsets in four. The Gold Derby collective has only gotten one wrong each of the last three years, so we shall see if I end up with the bottom score.
I wish that this had been one of those years with SAG the day after PGA. This week in between has given people way too much time to jump on the bandwagon for The Big Short.

Kate Winslet winning Best Supporting Actress
I don’t know if Bale winning Best Supporting Actor and The Big Short winning Best Ensemble are surprisesJanuary 29, 2016 at 7:22 pm #213749
Bale and/orWinslet winning still would be considered as a surprise since an individual SAG win %90 guarantee an Oscar win, too. And neither of them are not even at the top 2 in their respective categories on Oscar prediction center.January 29, 2016 at 8:20 pm #213750
I’m sticking with Spotlight for Ensemble…almost seems like an “upset” now.
I’ve moved Bale up for probability, pondered Idris Elba but am staying with Rylance.
I’m going with Depp over Leo for Actor…kidding, kidding. But THAT would be a surprise wouldnt it.
I really hope they dont go with Vikander. I’m thinking of Winslet or McAdams but somehow, I just dont think so.January 29, 2016 at 8:49 pm #213751
Ronan, Winslet, Tremblay…
One of them will “surprise”.January 29, 2016 at 11:13 pm #213752
None. This is the start of the boring part of awards season.
Never mind, Vikander,Bale and Big Short are technically upsets but they really shouldn’t be.January 30, 2016 at 3:06 am #213753
Given that Spotlight didn’t win at the PGA or Globes, doesn’t that make a possible win at SAG a bit of a surprise? The Big Short is arguably favourite, so anything other than a favourite winning is some degree of surprise.January 30, 2016 at 8:39 am #213754
I’m predicting Bale and Winslet, but I don’t think either would be terribly surprising. Plausible upsets would be “Straight Outta Compton,” Elba, Mara, McAdams.January 30, 2016 at 9:46 am #213756
Vikander has now overtaken Mara by a hair in the collective GD odds. Rylance is still in the lead.
So technically the only “upset” I’m predicting is The Big Short for Best Ensemble. But I don’t think many sitting in the room tonight will be surprised by that outcome.January 30, 2016 at 9:47 am #213757
If everyone is going with Bale, how can he be a surprise win? He’s been mentioned here more than Rylance, presumed frontrunner for tonight.January 30, 2016 at 2:54 pm #213758

Spotlight missed ACE and BAFTA Direction and Editing, but it was considered a surprise when The Big Short took PGA for some reason.
