So Saoirse Ronan is 24 with 3 oscar noms. I think she’s extremely talented (probably the most talented actress born in the 90s) and I was wondering when do you think she will win her first oscar, how many she will end up being nominated for thoughout her career, and win?

She reminds me in many ways of a young Kate Winslet. We’re definitely going to be seeing her around for a while. I can see her earning at another two, three, or four nominations and perhaps a win or two within the next decade.

By denying her for Lady Bird they have made her Winslet 2.0, and she’ll have to wait till her narrative peaks for a win.

She’s going to receive north of 8 or so Oscar nominations in the entirety of her career. I just sincerely hope she doesn’t pull a Winslet and win for absolute shit.

She could in all honesty win this year and that’d be it for awards in her career. But more than likely she’s going to win at least two.

She is someone who is extremely overrated. And these comparisons with Kate Winslet are insane. Kate Winslet was an international superstar while Ronan is someone not many people know outside of these online forums. She is the Glenn Close of this generation.

Nah. Glenn Close was a huge star in the 80s. The Big Chill and then certainly Fatal Attraction made her a household name.

    THIS.

And the fact that there are people who think that she was “denied” for Lady Bird is just ridiculous. McDormand’s performance was miles ahead of hers. I personally think she was 4th/5th in that mix.

I don’t understand. You’re saying she (Ronan) will end up a two-time winner but if she were to win one now she’ll never be a return nominee?

Emphasis on “could”. I’m not saying “will”, here. Spitballing possibilities.

And I mean “awards” in the sense of winning them, not necessarily in terms of nominations. It’s a dead certainty she’ll be getting a bunch of nominations over the course of her career; the question is if she actually wins more than one Oscar.

I think she’s overrated her performance in Lady Bird wasn’t anything special neither was the film.

She deserved the Oscar for “Brooklyn”.

She is an excellent actress and for me is the best of her generation so far, she will probably win an Oscar before 2025, I just hope it’s not for the wrong movie or the wrong performance like many actresses.

In case I do not think she deserved to win for Lady Bird (Sally Hawkins was the best of the category after Frances) and not for Atonement, but could have won by Brooklyn instead of Brie Larson.
